Please join us in congratulating Jonathan Dick, OSFS, ’13, on his official ordination as a priest in the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales on May 30th!

Featured in the inaugural issue of our new university magazine, “Votis,” he shares how the roots of his spiritual journey trace directly back to his time at Holy Family University, where he worked closely with campus ministry. Today, his service remains deeply influenced by the university’s motto, “Teneor votis” (“I am bound by my responsibilities”)—a powerful principle he now lives out and preaches to others in his ministry.

We join our entire community in celebrating his incredible dedication to answering his call. Read the full feature story in the Spring 2026 issue of “Votis” below.

Can hosting the World Cup truly boost Philadelphia's economy? ⚽

Featured in the inaugural issue of our new university magazine, "Votis," our series highlights new ways to think about your world from the experts at Holy Family University. In this edition, assistant professor of economics John M. Dellipriscoli looks past the fandom to analyze the financial reality of mega-events.

Professor Dellipriscoli explains that while projections estimate a $770 million economic injection, the short-term revenue is often offset by major infrastructure and preparation costs. His takeaway? The true win for the region won't be measured on the scoreboard or in ticket sales, but rather in smart investments in local infrastructure and a lasting sense of civic pride long after the tournament ends.

Campus Construction Update 🚧

Progress continues across campus as we advance key projects designed to enhance our facilities and support our academic mission. From final touches on athletic spaces to major infrastructure shifts at our newest sites, each development reflects our continued investment in the Holy Family University experience.

At the Metz Family Fieldhouse, we are checking off final punch list items, including the addition of 20 lockers to accommodate our expanding teams and the installation of new medical and training equipment. Nearby at the Holy Family Hall Welcome Center site, significant progress is being made with basement excavation and the installation of footings. This phase included required utility relocations and the demolition of existing structures to set a strong foundation for this future campus hub.

In Newtown West, the Biotech project is shifting into high gear. With interior demolition and site prep work well underway, we are looking forward to beginning roof work in the next few weeks. We are also pleased to share that signage installation in the Cub Cafe is now complete. Simultaneously, the Newtown West Courtyard continues to take shape as block work moves forward and material loading remains in progress.

Looking toward the future, planning remains active for the First Gen Center and the Nursing Education Building (NEB), where we are refining designs to include modern huddle spaces and optimized mechanical systems. Additionally, the Library is preparing for a summer rearrangement to make way for future furniture upgrades.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Holy Family University was honored to welcome Sister Ilia Delio, OSF, Ph.D., as our newest honorary degree recipient and Undergraduate Ceremony keynote speaker.

A Franciscan Sister of Washington, D.C. and a distinguished professor of theology at Villanova University, Sister Ilia’s work and wisdom served as a powerful inspiration for the . She shared a moving message with our graduates as they prepared to cross the stage:

“Each person here has gifts—unique gifts, personal gifts—that only you can contribute to the world. Live from those gifts. Live from who you are and we will help build up this world and contribute to the life of God.”

We are deeply grateful for the perspective and encouragement she offered our graduates as they embark on their next chapter. 🎓✨
