It was a busy Saturday morning at our 3️⃣ Mobile Vegetable Markets! Folks who visited the sites went home with beautiful summer produce like tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet corn, zucchini, potatoes, onions and more. 🍅 🌽 🥗
Thank you to all our Mobile Market volunteers, farm partners, and the wonderful organizations that fund this program!
By expanding these donation-based markets to a third site this year, we are able to support more local farmers and bring more farm-fresh veggies to community members in Salisbury and Spencer! 🎉
If you have a couple hours free on Saturday morning, we’d love your help. A Bread Riot board member will be ready to show you the ropes. Visit www.BreadRiot.org/get-involved for more details.

Our first “Cookin’ at the Market” event went great! Chef Kelly Miller prepared a flavorful seasonal skillet using produce available at the Salisbury/Rowan Farmers' Market.
Today’s recipe featured broccoli from Twin Oak Farms - Frank Patterson Farms and garlic, spring onions and kale from Correll Farms LLC.
All the lucky tasters agreed—it was delicious! See her recipe to try it for yourself using asparagus, or sub in broccoli like she did today.
You can find out what Chef Kelly is cookin’ up next on Saturday, June 13. She’ll be doing two cooking demos between 9 and 11 am, each followed by a tasting.

Today, Lynette’s team has prepared a special lunch for Mother’s Day. For the first time ever, we are able to incorporate the produce collected at the Rowan County Cooperative Extension Donation Station at the Salisbury/Rowan Farmers' Market into our meals!
Not only do our clients get to enjoy a yummy steak, but they get to enjoy fresh strawberries, spinach, and lettuce from Twin Oak Farms, Correll Farms LLC., Miller Farm Fresh Produce, and Downing Farms, LLC.
Thank you to our shoppers and farmers who helped bring a taste of the farmers market to our homebound seniors!
