LinkedIn For Learners

As the authors for "LinkedIn For Learners," we are excited that our local community college system is making tuition free for all Bexar County Schools.

This effort will increase our next generation's ability to lead our community and our nation.

Now, our ACCD students need encouragement and mentorship. Unlike high school, college educators don't have to deal with late or incomplete work.

These future college students needs mentors and encouragement.

I know from our encounters with junior college students that they are working to support themselves while they complete college classes. If you meet one at your local HEB or your favorite restaurant, encourage them.

And, when you do, ask them if they have started a LinkedIn profile. When completed, it can open doors for internships, job and other opportunities.,

Alamo Colleges expands free tuition program to all Bexar County ISD schools Every senior enrolled in a traditional public school in Bexar County is now eligible for free tuition at the Alamo Colleges.

If you have a teen heading to college in the next few weeks, take the time to ask them about their college major. Then, introduce them to someone who works in that profession, if possible.

For high school and college students, most have questioned what to put into their LinkedIn Experience section. I'm sharing this article here, but please know that I will eventually update it to add more targeted information to those with limited experience.

It was a daunting and overwhelming journey that I somehow passed into a career in the Air Force as a public affairs professional and journalist.

At that time, academics didn't matter much…

The choices you make in your academics can make or break your life.

That's why, I don't want any student to face the same situation alone.

Because let's face a harsh truth:

There's a complete disconnect between good counseling and students…

And that's EXACTLY where I come between.

My mission is to help college students make informed choices about colleges and their courses of study. That's why I wrote the book "LinkedIn For Learners."
