I know they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but I’m a Christian girl. I’ve got to confess. I think I got a panhandler in trouble on the Vegas strip when I was there a few years ago attending my best friend’s wedding. She was sitting in one of the walkways between hotels, you know, where people are constantly passing by?

I was on my way back from the drug store (Walgreen’s) where I picked up a few snacks. Namely, powdered donuts. I love powdered donuts! 💞 And some water. Tbh, I really just needed the exercise, and I had just woken up from a nap 😴 I think it was around 10pm. 🤔 I don’t remember. It was night time. 🤷🏾‍♀️ So I went to the drug store. The donuts were just a good excuse to get up and go. As I was eating my donuts on the way back to the hotel 🏰😉 a lady panhandler was sitting there and asked me for one, so I said “here, take two!” and handed her two donuts out of my bag.

Later, I saw her being escorted away by the police, for what reason 🤷🏾‍♀️ I don’t know. But that’s the story about the time I think I got a beggar in trouble. I assumed she was homeless, and was surprised by how many I saw on the strip that trip.

Call me an optimist, but I hope the recent events happening around the world curbs the problem of homelessness, especially in America. Things don’t have to get worse from here. I try to think of this time as an opportunity for improvement. For everyone! 💖
