In the Fall of 2023, the San Antonio Baptist Association and the LACY Theological Seminary, located in Oaxaca, Mexico, entered into an official agreement to provide accredited theological education degrees. As a part of providing a quality education, SABA chose to hire a Director to oversee the extension campus. Dr. Mario DiazCebellos was chosen and served as SABA’s LACY Seminary Campus Director until October 14, 2025.

The San Antonio Baptist Association and the LACY Theological Seminary continue to partner together to provide accredited theological education degrees. The SABA Extension Campus is based upon the formal agreement between the San Antonio Baptist Association and the LACY Theological Seminary. Regardless of who SABA chooses to hire as their Director or as their Professors, SABA is in control of the program and makes all final decisions concerning our LACY Theological Extension Campus.

As a student you are free to study in any theological academic institution. Only SABA’s LACY Extension Campus provides accredited courses for the LACY Theological Seminary. Theological courses provide by others do not quality for LACY Theological Seminary credit. If you want to complete your theological studies and receive a LACY accredited diploma or degree, the SABA Campus is the only avenue by which you can receive a LACY diploma or degree. SABA encourages you to continue your theological education studies and complete your diploma or degree. Please contact Angela directly at 210.525.9954. Our SABA office is in constant communication with the LACY Seminary Head Office in Oaxaca, Mexico, so that we can move forward effectively to continue to provide our student with theological training. SABA has spoken with LACY President Dr. David Tamez several times. He is aware of the recent changes but has expressed his and LACY’s commitment to our agreed upon partnership. We will keep you informed as to the next start date for classes.
