On Tuesday, September 5th, Attorney General Sessions announced that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is being eliminated.
They are no longer accepting first-time applications for DACA. However, some prior DACA recipients may be allowed to renew their status.
Only DACA recipients whose DACA grant expires byMarch 5, 2018 will be allowed to submit a DACA renewal application.
The renewal application MUST be submitted to USCIS by October 5, 2017;
In collaboration with RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services), UTSA is hosting clinics on Saturday, September 23rd for UTSA students to renew their DACA applications before the deadline.
At the RAICES DACA clinic, DACA recipients who are eligible to renew under the new administration guidelines will be assisted in completing their applications.
You MUST pre-register for the clinic and will be contacted by RAICES to be pre-screened. Students can pre-register at http://bit.ly/utsaDACA or in person at UTSA on September 12th from 3 – 7 pm in the University Center Willow Room – UC 2.02.12 (to the left of the Retama Auditorium.)

Alamo Runners, be sure you've completed your FAFSA. It's the path to that financial aid award letter. Your award letter will let you know if you qualify for grants and loans and scholarships. Generally, grants and scholarships are monies that students don't have to payback. Loans are monies that have to be paid back. When it comes to loans, be sure that you understand what you're being offered, as interest rates and rules vary. Accept only the loans that are right for you. You don't have to accept everything. Ask for an advising session if you are unsure about any part of the process or your award letter. https://fafsa.gov/
