Elisa Potgieter was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Before becoming an artist, Elisa worked from 1998-2012 for a Mortgage Company as an Underwriter. In 2008, Elisa was laid off from work due to the recession, she began her self study at that time as an artist. Elisa has been an Artist-Painter ever since. When Elisa was growing up, her mother was very protective and didn't allow Elisa to a
ttend any art classes, or vocational courses in school. Elisa knew she had a desire to create but because of her overprotective mother, she wasn't allowed to expand on those desires. She did however, continue to do small projects/crafts at home as she was growing up. In 2008, Elisa decided to begin sketching and drawing and eventually decided to take a few art courses-drawing, painting, and even mosaic. She enjoyed them all, but mostly she enjoyed painting. She began discovering abstract art through research on the internet. She discovered that this style was best for her and began testing all different kinds of techniques and styles. In 2012, Elisa had a baby girl and became a stay at home mom-full time. The experience of being a “mom” has changed Elisa that it has reflected in her art. With all of Elisa's experiences in life and with paints-art, Elisa's abstract pieces show a reflection of how she sees art, feels art and how she would like people to view her art. In time, she continues to grow her mind, wisdom and her experience which is reflected in her art pieces.
