We may have openings after Chrsitmas break. I have a family whose job has changed and might not be coming back :( We will miss them, they are such sweet kids and family. Right now, my wait list is empty so please spread the word about openings. I could take a part time right now as well.

One of the teachers is going back to school in August. She will still be working here, but not able to work every day. I am looking to hire someone who can work the days she needs to be off for school. If you know anyone looking for a job teaching and taking care of little ones, please send them my way.

Summer is here! For the summer, I will occasionally have drop in spots available. This fall, we have 2 newborn siblings that will join our baby room and 1 of our babies will move up to the toddler room. We are currently full and not expecting any spots opening until next year. However, military PCS is coming up and every year, families move away. :( Sometimes unexpected spots open. I do offer full time, part time, and a Mothers Day Out option.

Officially back open after closing for a few months. We thought we were moving to a new location, but it did not work out. So I reopened in home. I am back on the DFPS website. Address is on the site and parents are free to come and tour. I do not schedule tours, just come when you can during operational hours. I have cameras in my home that enrolled parents will be able to view during operational hours as well. Website is dorrislearningcenter.com

Happy New Year. Currently, we are full in both classrooms and the infant room has one on the wait list. Interested new families are always welcome to visit Monday-Friday from 6-6 without scheduling a tour. I fill empty spots in order with families who are on the wait list.

We took votes on a couple things today and I showed them how to track votes and how to count and make tally marks. During free play, they were making their own voting polls and they liked making tally marks (first picture). In the second picure, they are using pipe cleaners and circles with holes to make letter b and adding stickers that begin with /b/. Really love teaching and watching them learn through play and fun projects.

I don't post pics on this site or give updates very often because I have a secret page that is only for currently enrolled parents. That is the page I put all the pictures and daily activities and announcements on. I just wanted to remind all interested parents that I do provide a curriculum for the older tots and preschool age and show how low are ratios are here compared to larger centers. This pic does not show faces, so I decided to share this pic. They are drawing characters from our Chinese fable we are reading this week.
