The South Hudson Music Project (SHMP) was initially created as an ancillary not-for-profit to promote and sustain interesting and community oriented music at The Royal Room. The Royal Room remains a principle partner as SHMP expands its to other venues in Seattle’s south end, and throughout the city.

A recent study found that less than 40% of venues in Seattle show a profit. SHMP is committed to supporting small music venues, and in particular innovative programming that might not be economically viable in these setting.
