We are proud to celebrate two outstanding members of the Venice Skills Center community recognized by the California Council for Adult Education (CCAE).

Congratulations to Cheyenne Goldfarb, recipient of the 2026 CCAE Scholarship Award. Cheyenne’s journey reflects extraordinary resilience, perseverance, and determination. After overcoming significant challenges, including foster care, homelessness, and educational setbacks, she made the courageous decision to return to school and reclaim her future. Her story is a powerful reminder of the strength and determination our students carry every day, and we are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished.

Congratulations also to Sybil Gonzales, recipient of the CALCO Teacher Award. Sybil demonstrates exceptional classroom effectiveness and an unwavering commitment to student success. Her students consistently achieve outstanding outcomes, including high persistence and completion rates in both High School Equivalency and Accounting courses. Through intentional outreach, continuous support, and strong instructional practices, she empowers students to build confidence, achieve their goals, and complete their educational journeys. Sybil is also a valued leader within professional learning communities, contributing to collaboration, instructional improvement, and student-centered practices across our school community.

We also honored Ms. Cynthia Oliva today, retired assistant principal of counseling extraordinaire! Thank you for your many years of service to adult education!
