"How big is your family?" For Marika, answering this question takes a minute ๐.
Through years of opening her home to international exchange students, her family has grown far beyond their four boys.
Hosting isnโt just about welcoming a student into your home for a few months; itโs about creating lifelong bonds, building bridges across cultures, and gaining a global network of bonus children, parents, and friends.

Fathers wear a lot of different hats during an exchange year.
Back home, theyโre the ones sending the "did you land safely?" texts, cheering the students on from thousands of miles away, and pretending they aren't getting emotional during video calls.
In host countries, they're the ones welcoming students into their family routines, sharing local recipes, driving them to practice, and making a brand-new house feel safe and familiar. ๐
Different countries, sometimes even different time zones, but the exact same unconditional support behind it all.
Happy Fatherโs Day to all the dads, host dads, and father figures in the global YFU community!

Ever thought about hosting an exchange student but hesitated because you felt your home, your schedule, or your life wasn't "perfect" enough? ๐ก
Letโs bust some common myths! Hosting isnโt about being a flawless tour guide or having a big house. Itโs about opening your heart and sharing everyday moments. Swipe through to see the real side of the hosting journey. โก๏ธ
The biggest takeaway? You aren't just changing a student's life, you are changing your family's world forever. โจ
Thereโs a very specific kind of friendship that comes from exchange. (If you know, you know ๐).
You go from "Hey, is this seat taken?" to "I can't imagine my life without you" in about three weeks flat.
Suddenly, it just clicks. You realize this person understands your new reality in a way no one back home really can.
Happy National Best Friend Day to the people who made a totally new place feel familiar.
