Environmental educators are helping the next generation understand and care for our planet—one lesson, one outdoor experience, and one curious question at a time. 🌎

For Environmental Education Week 2026, EE organizations you know and love have partnered to celebrate the educators, organizations, and partners who inspire environmental knowledge and stewardship across the country.

Join us April 20-24 to celebrate the work that connects students to nature, builds STEM skills, and empowers communities to take action for a healthier environment.

We’re so excited to be bringing the Climate Emotions Toolkit to SXSW EDU! 🌱

Climate change is shaping how young people think about their futures, and educators are on the front lines of those big, emotional conversations. That’s why NEEF and partners are hosting a panel on how to help students navigate climate emotions while still leaning into hope, solutions, and action.

This session brings together a former science teacher and curriculum expert, a climate psychologist, and the founder of a climate education nonprofit to share practical, classroom-tested strategies that support both student and teacher well-being.

We believe resources like the Climate Emotions Toolkit are essential for today’s classrooms—helping educators build resilience, strengthen connections, and create space for meaningful learning in uncertain times.

If you’re at SXSW EDU, we hope to see you there! 💚

The future belongs to those who grow it! 🌿🌱🥕

Students from McCaskey High School in Lancaster, PA, are digging in and exploring careers in agriculture and environmental science through a NEEF Greening STEM grant supported by the Arconic Foundation.

McCaskey’s new Agricultural and Environmental Science (AES) program introduces students to farming systems, environmental stewardship, and sustainable resource management through hands-on learning experiences.

They also received their first-ever McCaskey Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter charter in June at the Pennsylvania FFA Summer Convention.

We love to see how Greening STEM is fostering the future workforce! Show your support by sharing their great work!

It's Raining Math 01/06/2022

Students may be surprised to learn about the vast array of green STEM jobs that exist. Incorporating career exploration into lessons is a great way to build early awareness of the many jobs that use STEM skills to make a positive impact.

Our interview with six meteorologists highlights how each of these experts landed in their careers and can help students understand the intersection of STEM and meteorology. Share their stories: https://buff.ly/36MlDKz

Happy Holidays from NEEF!

We wish you happiness and health in all your celebrations.

The NEEF team had our annual holiday party via ZOOM, but that didn't stop the fun of a white elephant gift exchange! Our staff enjoyed getting, giving, and stealing presents😉. Reused and reusable, storied and sustainable, the NEEF gifts gave us a good laugh and a fun way to interact from afar.

Thanks for following NEEF and engaging with us in 2021. See you in 2022!
