✨ YOUTH MONTH SPOTLIGHT ✨
“Like the youth of June 16, 1976, we are still fighting – just in different ways, against different systems, but with the same unshaken spirit that refuses to give up.”
These powerful words come from our Mentorship Intern, Zwivhuya Sephodi, as she reflects on what Youth Month means to her and the realities faced by young South Africans today.
From navigating unemployment and inequality to balancing education, family responsibilities, and career aspirations, young people continue to show incredible resilience and determination.
🎓 We are also proud to celebrate Zwivhuya’s recent Honours graduation! Your achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and perseverance that Youth Month represents.
Congratulations, Zwivhuya! We wish you continued success as you inspire and empower others through your journey.

🌟 Youth Month Reflection by Thulisile Mashigo 🌟
"One thing I admire about the youth of Soweto is their resilience."
The story of the youth who stood up for change reminds us that courage and resilience have always been part of who we are. Their legacy teaches us that setbacks are not the end of the journey—they are opportunities to grow, learn, and become stronger.
As we celebrate Youth Month, let us remember that resilience is not about having an easy path. It is about continuing forward with faith, hope, and determination, even when the future seems uncertain.
May we continue to honour the sacrifices of those who came before us by building a brighter future for ourselves and our communities.

FIRST-YEAR FRIDAY | Exam Encouragement 💙
Dear first-years, exams are not only testing what you know — they are also teaching you resilience, discipline, and perseverance. It is okay to feel nervous during this period. What matters most is that you keep trying, keep preparing, and keep showing up for yourself.
Remember to take care of your mental and physical well-being during this season. Get enough rest, stay hydrated, eat properly, and create time to breathe between study sessions. Your well-being is just as important as your academic performance.
One difficult test does not define your future. Keep going.

Youth Month Reflection | Hlamulo Masango
Youth Month serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and determination shown by the youth of 16 June 1976, whose sacrifices continue to inspire generations.
One of our interns, Hlamulo Masango, shares that his internship experience has provided him with valuable exposure to governance, administration, and public service while strengthening his belief that young people can contribute meaningfully to ethical leadership, accountability, and social development.
Hlamulo highlights the importance of creating opportunities for young people through education, mentorship, skills development, and workplace experience. Internship programmes play a vital role in helping graduates transition from academic learning to practical application in the workplace.
As we celebrate Youth Month, we encourage all young people to remain resilient, pursue growth opportunities, and use their talents and voices to help build a more inclusive, accountable, and progressive South Africa.

FIRST-YEAR FRIDAY | Youth Month Edition 🇿🇦
As we commemorate Youth Month, remember that your journey at university is already proof of courage and determination. The youth of 1976 fought for access to education and opportunities, and today, you carry that legacy forward every time you show up for yourself, attend class, and continue pushing through challenges.
Exams can feel overwhelming, especially in your first year, but do not underestimate how far you have already come. Growth takes time, and success is built one step, one test, and one effort at a time. Rest when needed, ask for help when necessary, and continue believing in your potential.
You are capable. You are deserving. And your dreams matter.
