Many people are asking questions about the application requirements. Here is a simple explanation to help you apply correctly.

a) 𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧

Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years old.

b) 𝗡𝗖𝗤𝗙 𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟 𝗜𝗜𝗜 (𝗕𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟)

This level is for people who want to learn a trade for the first time.

If you completed:

• JC
• BGCSE
• OBE
• NCQF Level II

You can apply.

There are no points requirements mentioned. Hela ha o nale JC/BGCSE/OBE/NCQF Level II Apply

c) 𝗡𝗖𝗤𝗙 𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟 𝗜𝗩

This is NOT for beginners.

To apply for NCQF Level IV, you must already have:

• NCQF Level III Certificate
• Or an equivalent qualification in the same field

For example, if you want Level IV Welding & Fabrication, you must already have Level III Welding & Fabrication or an equivalent qualification.

d) 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗙𝗧 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗘 (𝗡𝗖𝗖)

To apply for NCC, you must already have:

• Trade Test B
• OR NCQF Level IV
• OR an equivalent qualification in the same field

If you still have a Trade B qualification, this may be a good time to apply for NCC go ise go emisiwe legacy system(Trade C,Trade B and NCC). Di brigade and technical colleges are gradually moving away from the old legacy system to the NCQF system, which is why you no longer see Trade B and Trade C programmes being advertised.

e) 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗦

Applicants with disabilities or special needs are encouraged to apply.

Please remember to attach a valid assessment report with your application. This helps institutions assess your needs and can be very important during the selection process.

f) 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗬 𝗙𝗢𝗥?

You can apply to many institutions if you want.

However, you can only apply for ONE COURSE PER INSTITUTION.

Example:

• Welding & Fabrication at Maun Technical College
• Travel & Tourism at Maun Technical College

This can lead to disqualification because you submitted two applications to the same institution.

Instead:

• Welding & Fabrication at Maun Technical College
• Travel & Tourism at another institution

g) 𝗜𝗙 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗪𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗕𝗬 𝗗𝗧𝗘𝗙 𝗕𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘

You can still apply.

However, you will have to self-sponsor because DTEF beneficiaries are not eligible for sponsorship under this intake.

h) 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧

Do not write grades or marks that are different from those on your certificate.

Any false information can result in:

• Disqualification
• Cancellation of admission

The application fee is P50.00 (non-refundable).

You can pay at your nearest:

• Brigade
• Technical College

You will be given a proof of payment receipt, which must be attached together with your application form and other required documents.

A group of footballers from different clubs across Botswana is proving that success is not only measured by what happens on the field, but also by the skills you build for the future.

Through a scholarship programme offered by the Footballers Union of Botswana (FUB) in partnership with Rapid Skills Development Centre (RSDC), players have enrolled in various vocational and professional training programmes to prepare for life after football.

The beneficiaries are studying courses such as Carpentry & Joinery, Electrical Installation, Plumbing, Painting & Decorating, and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Officer training. These programmes provide practical skills that can open doors to employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable careers.

While football careers can be short, skills last a lifetime. By investing in education and vocational training, these players are creating opportunities for themselves beyond the game and demonstrating the importance of lifelong learning.

This initiative highlights how TVET can empower individuals from all backgrounds, including athletes, by providing industry-relevant skills that support personal growth, economic independence, and career development.

The future of skills development in Botswana received a boost this week as the Minister of Higher Education, Honourable Prince Maele, met with the High Commissioner of India to Botswana, His Excellency Mr. Bharath Kumar Kuthati.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Botswana and India in higher education, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), digital learning, student exchange programmes, and skills development.

One of the key highlights was the increase in scholarships available to Botswana students, with India increasing its scholarship allocation from 54 to 75 scholarships this year.

For the TVET sector, discussions centered on the importance of equipping students with practical, industry-relevant skills that match the needs of a rapidly changing economy. The two countries also explored opportunities for collaboration through skills transfer, innovation, vocational training, and the possible establishment of Centres of Excellence.

India, which has extensive experience in technical and vocational education, expressed its commitment to sharing best practices and supporting Botswana's efforts to build a skilled and future-ready workforce.

This engagement highlights the growing recognition of TVET as a key driver of economic growth, innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment creation.

As Botswana continues to strengthen its TVET system, partnerships such as these could create new opportunities for students, institutions, instructors, and industries across the country.

𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦
𝐚) Applicants should be between 16–35 years.
𝐛) For NCQF Certificate Level III: Minimum of Junior Certificate/NCQF Level II or equivalent. Duration: 12 months.

𝐟) Candidates should apply for ONE PROGRAMME ONLY. Multiple applications will result in disqualification.
𝐠) Applicants who have benefited from DTEF sponsorship before are not eligible.
𝐡) Failure to disclose accurate information will result in disqualification and revocation of admission.
𝐢) Attach certified copies of educational certificates, Omang, and proof of payment.

At Moshupa Brigade, learning is not only happening in the classroom and workshop it is also happening on real construction and maintenance projects.

Students have been actively involved in improving and maintaining staff houses and school infrastructure through a range of practical projects, demonstrating the value of hands on TVET training.

Some of the work completed includes:

• Ceiling installation and repairs
• Filling wall cracks and maintenance works
• Construction of culverts
• Pavement installation
• Sliding gate installation
• Floor and wall tiling
• House foundations and footings
• General staff house maintenance and improvements

These projects provide students with valuable real-world experience while helping improve the institution's facilities. By working on actual construction and maintenance tasks, learners develop confidence, strengthen their technical abilities, and gain exposure to the standards expected in industry.

This is another example of why practical training remains at the heart of TVET. Students are not only learning theory — they are applying their skills on projects that produce visible results.

The work being done at Moshupa Brigade also highlights an important opportunity for Botswana. Under proper supervision, TVET students can play a greater role in maintaining and upgrading schools, clinics, government buildings, and community facilities while gaining the practical experience employers look for.
