It takes a school with vision to prepare a young man for life. St Alban’s College is a young, vibrant Anglican boys’ school, with Grades 8 to 12.

It came into existence on 1 February 1963 with a total of 37 boys and a complement of 3 masters. We now number over 560 boys and over 60 teachers, plus an array of support staff

As we celebrate Youth Day, we are reminded that the leaders of tomorrow are found in the classrooms, sports fields, stages and communities of today. At St Alban’s College, we remain committed to nurturing young men of character, purpose and integrity who will contribute meaningfully to South Africa and the world.

"Be Prepared."

With Journey on the horizon, our Form 3 boys recently spent the day developing the skills, confidence and resilience that will serve them well when they embark on this important adventure in November.

From orienteering with the Rand Orienteering Club and bicycle safety training, to hiking through the spruit, lighting fires for hot chocolate, enjoying well earned s'mores and tackling a simulated river crossing in the school pool, the day offered a practical introduction to many of the experiences that await them.

More than just a day of activities, it was an opportunity to reinforce the values at the heart of Journey: preparation, teamwork, problem solving and perseverance. Each challenge encouraged the boys to step outside their comfort zones, work together and embrace the adventure ahead.

November awaits, and our young men are already taking the first steps towards it.

The Bantu Language Enrichment Society (BLES) officially launched with a thought provoking panel discussion in recognition of Youth Month, centred on the theme, "From 1976 to Today: Youth, Voice, and Responsibility."

Hosted in the Dr John Boje Auditorium, the event brought together students, staff, and distinguished guests to reflect on leadership, identity, citizenship, and the enduring legacy of the youth of 1976.

Expertly moderated by Mr Maboni Mmatli, Head of Community Engagement and Outreach, the discussion featured Ms Khusela Sangoni, Member of Parliament and Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies, Advocate Moses Mphaga SC, Senior Counsel and proud Old Albanian, and The Reverend Grant Trewern, School Chaplain.

The launch marked an important milestone in celebrating indigenous languages, culture, critical thinking, and meaningful dialogue. We commend the BLES Executive for their vision and leadership in bringing this initiative to life.

Our sincere thanks to the panellists, moderator, guests, staff, and students whose contributions made this inaugural event such a success.

The energy around our football programme is unmistakable as preseason preparations continue in full swing.

Training sessions have been filled with enthusiasm, commitment and a genuine passion for the game, with players embracing every opportunity to learn, improve and challenge themselves. Under the guidance of an experienced coaching team, strong foundations are being laid for the season ahead.

We are so blessed to have this incredible view as the backdrop to our preparations, a daily reminder of how fortunate we are to learn, train and grow in such a special environment.

As relationships are strengthened and standards continue to rise, there is a growing sense of excitement around what promises to be an exciting chapter for St Alban’s Football.

Out with the old, in with the new.

The Knoll has officially entered its next chapter. As refurbishment gets underway, a space filled with decades of memories begins its transformation into a reimagined home for future generations of boys.

While it is never easy to say goodbye to a place that has meant so much to so many, we are excited for what lies ahead. The spirit of The Knoll remains, and we look forward to seeing it take shape in a way that honours its rich history while embracing the future.

A fresh new look for St Alban’s Basketball.

Our refurbished basketball courts are complete, and the final result is nothing short of spectacular. Clean lines, vibrant colours and a world class playing surface have transformed this space into a facility our boys can be truly proud of.

A stunning addition to our campus and another step forward for the game at St Alban’s College.

Our boys recently had the privilege of visiting Sling Aircraft, a globally recognised and proudly South African leader in the design and manufacture of high performance light sport aircraft.

Located less than 100 km from St Alban’s College, Sling Aircraft has earned an international reputation for innovation, reliability and adventure, with its aircraft having successfully circumnavigated the globe on multiple occasions.

The visit provided a fascinating behind the scenes look at the manufacturing process, allowing the boys to see firsthand how these remarkable aircraft are transformed from raw aluminium and carbon fibre components into world class flying machines. From engineering and assembly to testing and final preparation, the experience offered valuable insight into the precision, skill and technology involved in modern aircraft production.

Adding to the excitement, three of the aircraft the boys saw during their visit took to the skies the following day at the Swartkops Museum Airshow.

A sincere thank you to the Sling Aircraft team for an inspiring and memorable experience.
