Some moments become part of the story of a place forever.
We were deeply honoured to welcome the legendary Abdullah Ibrahim into this home not so long ago, where his music filled these walls with the same spirit of reflection, connection and humanity that has always defined this space.
A true icon of South African jazz, his artistry carried stories of our country, our struggles, our resilience and our beauty across generations and borders.
Today, we remember and celebrate a remarkable life, and we feel grateful that this historic home was able to hold a small part of his incredible journey.
May his music continue to inspire, move and connect people for generations to come.
Tshokwane River Camp is open for the 2026 season and the Kruger, after one of its most dramatic wet seasons in recent memory, is stirring back into the extraordinary rhythm that makes this wilderness unlike anywhere else on earth.
The first guests have arrived, the game drives are under way, the trackers are reading the ground, and the bush is alive in ways that only the start of a season can produce.
This is what we've been waiting for. Come and join us!

Every room here carries a story.
Room 3 is called Tata — a name many South Africans use with deep affection, meaning father. It speaks to the role Nelson Mandela played in shaping a nation, not only as a leader, but as a guiding presence to millions.
Stories like these are woven quietly throughout the home. In the names, the spaces, and the details that reveal themselves over time.
To come here is not simply to check in. It is to step into something more layered, more personal, and deeply connected to the life that once unfolded within these walls.

Warm your heart with our curry menu this winter 🍛
Choose your favourite:
Coconut scented seafood curry - the coastal champion
Spicy chicken curry — the bold one bringing the heat
Vegetable curry — the comfort classic
Chickpea curry - the quiet but powerful contender All served with basmati rice, poppadum, and sambals.
Let us take care of you 😃.
Our winter menu tells a story of many intluences, much like South Africa itself.
A blend of cultures, flavours and traditions that come together in a way that feels both familiar and unexpected.
The lamb arancini, for example, draws its inspiration from lamb biryani - a quiet nod to the Indian cuisine that Mr Mandela enjoyed. It's these small connections that shape each dish, linking past to present in a thoughtful way.
At Insights Restaurant, every plate carries a sense of place, reflecting not only the diversity of our country, but the personal tastes that once filled this home.
Join us this season and experience a menu where heritage and flavour meet.

There's a quiet kind of magic at Kruger Shalati - not only in the call of the bush or the flow of the Sabie River below, but in the first warm welcome on the bridge.
Meet the Kruger Shalati Front of House Team - the taces that greet you, guide you and set the tone for your stay at The Train on the Bridge. Through their smiles, stories and thoughttul gestures, the experience begins long before the first game drive.
Swipe through to meet the team, and let us know in the comments which familiar face welcomed you during your stay.
