*Academic Theories vs Practical Solutions*
By Akson Muzhou
09 June 2026
The world is heavily pregnant with metric tones of academic researches, recommendations and findings yet Africa remains trapped in the POVERTY PARADOX.
When will those Theories solve the problems African population faces?
What concerns me is that Summits, Conventions, Talk Shows, Seminars and Lectures are convened monthly and annually to address economic challenges, including the resource curse and the poverty paradox. Despite abundant natural wealth, populations remain trapped in poverty. Why?
How many metric tonnes of research proposals and recommendations have been produced, only to financially benefit the researchers, while the communities targeted by these studies remain stuck in the very problems being researched: poverty, unemployment and underdevelopment?
Academic Recommendations and proposal are gathering dust when the intended target continues to endure poverty in a naturally rich continent.
After having realised that there is disconnection between the academically proposed solutions and the actual citizens problem, I decided to develop practical action models :
*The Local Asset-Based Employment Creation and Community-Based Industrial Development (LABEC-CBID)* which might still wait for academic validation while people are suffering. Ironically, the evaluation should also come from the same academic community which fails to eradicate poverty.
The Academia must shift approach. We cannot keep fighting poverty on paper through research that ends on library shelves. The focus should be on actionable research, implementation, and measurable impact on the ground.
