TODAY WE CELEBRATE THE DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD
On this special day, 16th June, we join the continent in honouring every African child, their dreams, their resilience, and their right to thrive.
This year's theme is close to our hearts:
"Ensuring universal access to water, sanitation, and hygiene for every child in Africa."
Clean water. Safe sanitation. Proper hygiene.
These are not luxuries. They are basic rights that every child deserves.
At Bertha School, we are grateful for the water we drink, the clean toilets we use, and the health we enjoy.
But we also remember our brothers and sisters who are not so fortunate.
Today, we pray for them.
We advocate for them. And we teach our pupils to never take these blessings for granted.

WEEK 6: THE POWER OF HABITS
Small actions. Repeated daily. Shape great character.
This week, we are teaching our pupils that what they do every day matters more than what they do once in a while.
Good habits like reading, praying, tidying up, speaking kindly, and listening attentively are small seeds that grow into mighty trees.
But bad habits? They also grow. Quietly. Until one day, they feel too big to break.
Galatians 6:9 β "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
1 Corinthians 15:33 β "Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character."
Proverbs 4:23 β "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
Matthew 7:24-25 β "Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."
Parents, we invite you to reinforce this at home:
Β· Praise your child for small good habits (making their bed, saying thank you, putting away shoes)
Β· Gently correct bad habits with love and patience
Β· Model the habits you want to see. They are watching you!
Together, we are building children of rock-solid character, one small habit at a time!

WEEK 5: OUR ROOTS, OUR PRIDE β PRESERVING CULTURE FOR TOMORROW
Bertha School celebrates who we are, where we come from, and where we are going.
There is something beautiful about a child who knows their roots.
They walk with confidence, respect their elders, and carry their culture like a crown.
This week, we are teaching our pupils that culture is not old, it is gold.
And it is our responsibility to pass it down.
π Our Scripture readings for the week:
Psalm 78:4-6 β "We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord."
Proverbs 22:28 β "Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your ancestors."
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 β "Impress these commands on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road."
Exodus 12:26-27 β "When your children ask you, 'What does this ceremony mean to you?' tell them..."
Joshua 4:6-7 β "In the future, your children will ask, 'What do these stones mean?' Tell them..."
YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED!
