Will you even know this is Textile waste after it has been worked on perfectly by the Zimbabwe sunshine group (ZSG). ZSG is a Harare-based, not-for-profit community-based organization that focuses on sustainable waste management, recycling, and climate action. ZSG diverts waste through recycling, composting, and biochar production, while engaging in community training and school environmental education.

It's never a dull moment with the conversation manager, Bernadette Mupindanzanga. We thank you for the knowledge we acquire each time we visit the Conservancy, and thank you to our club patron, Dr. Tapfuma, for the encouragement and guidance.

Firstly An invasive species is a non-native organism that spreads aggressively into an area where it doesn't belong often causing harm to the local environment, ecosystem, or culture.
On the 27th of February we had an Opportunity to Visit the Hillside Dam Conservancy and we worked on plucking out the Daisy which is invasive to our environment and it actually spreads quickly outcompeting with native plants.

Celebrate with Pride, Leave No Trace
As thousands of us gather today at different venues across the country, let’s show that the youth of Zimbabwe are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the cleaners and protectors of today.
A rally is a place for voices, not for litter. Large events often result in "goldmines" of plastic waste—bottles, food containers, and flyers that can clog our drains and pollute our soil. We are calling on every attendee to:
Bin It or Bag It: Use the provided bins. If you can't find one, keep your trash in a small bag until you reach a proper disposal point.
The "3 Rs" Rule:Practice Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Keep your plastic water bottles for reuse instead of tossing them after one drink.
Lead by Example : If you see someone drop litter, kindly encourage them to pick it up.
Happy Robert Gabriel Mugabe National Youth Day.

💚☘️ *LETS GET REAL ABOUT OUR CLIMATE*
Good day everyone😃. We talk about climate change a lot, but sometimes the facts really put things into perspective.
🌡️ The Heat is On:
The last nine years(2014-2023) have been the nine warmest on record, with 2023 officially the hottest year ever recorded. This isn't a slow trend; it's an acceleration.
🤔 What's Going On?
In a nutshell, climate change is the long-term shift in our planet's temperature and weather patterns. The main driver? Human activities—like burning fossil fuels—that release massive amounts of greenhouse gases (like CO2 and methane) into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat, causing the planet to warm up.
💥 The Impacts Are Here:
This isn't a far-off future problem.We're already seeing it:
· Wilder Weather: More intense hurricanes, severe droughts, and record-breaking floods and heatwaves.
· Rising Seas: Threatening coastal communities and ecosystems.
· Biodiversity Crisis: Disrupting the habitats that plants and animals rely on.
· Human Toll: Impacts on our health, food security, and the global economy.
🔬 The Scientific Consensus is Clear:
The world's top climate scientists(the IPCC) warn we must limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels to avoid the most catastrophic effects. We're already at about 1.2°C.
💡 So, What's the Latest?
Even with all the talk, global CO2 emissions from energy hit a new record high in 2023. Current projections show we are on a path to warm by around 2.5-2.9°C by 2100—a dangerous level we must work to avoid.
This is why our club exists. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, but together, we can turn awareness into action.
