Yesterday, we had the privilege of welcoming guests from the University of Pretoria to TWEENS in Tongogara Refugee Settlement for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program.
This initiative brings a life‑changing opportunity directly to refugee students in our community.
The turnout was outstanding, and the energy in the room was unmistakable. Participants asked thoughtful questions, engaged in rich conversations, and showed deep enthusiasm for fully funded opportunities at the University of Pretoria. That level of drive and ambition is truly encouraging.
We saw not only high school graduates but also Ordinary and Advanced Level students in attendance. Our aim is to motivate them to aim higher as they pursue their studies.
This Mastercard Foundation scholarship outreach has also visited Bulawayo (National University of Science and Technology – NUST), Plumtree in Matabeleland, Harare (University of Zimbabwe), and Danhika Industrial Training Centre. We are proud that our settlement was the most recent stop.

In our endeavor to empower non-privileged students in Tongogara Refugee Settlement, the TWEENS team was honoured to deliver information about our work at Ebenezer church yesterday on Sunday, 10 August 2025, raising awareness to ensure that every child in Tongogara stays up to date during the August 2025 holidays.
In the same vein, we are excited to announce the resumption of holiday lessons at TWEENS, a great opportunity for students to stay up to date with their syllabus. At TWEENS, the following services are offered to students (at no cost)

TWEENS members attended and participated in a two-day training organised by SAYWHAT from 4 to 5 August 2025 in Mutare. The training, which focused on Capacity Building for Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), covered some crucial elements on resource mobilisation and finance management.

TWEENS' "A" Advanced level began their 2025 Mid-year exams on Monday, 21 July, and will end on August 1, 2025.

On Sunday, 6 July 2025, TWEENS received the delegation from the Embassy of France, led by Mr Julien OUVRARD- Secretary General and Vice-Consul, and the European Union's Maximilian KRIZ-Political Officer, who were on a familiarisation tour of Tongogara Refugee Settlement.
This presented a great opportunity to showcase and exhibit our role, duties, and work in empowering non-privileged students through education, mentorship, and digital skills.
