The Astra Academy students visited Big Brother Airport Farm last week and enjoyed a tour of the farrowing unit, outdoor weaning area, and paddocks. It was a valuable and insightful visit, and we are grateful to Mr Frik Muller Snr for his time and generosity.

And just like that, the second year of the Astra Academy is underway...

It wasn’t all hard work and no play for the Astra Academy students during their time at Marula!
They enjoyed watching the Springboks deliver a masterclass in rugby against Japan, explored the local area, learnt about clay grain bins built by the Kalanga people circa 1836, and admired ancient San rock paintings — a fascinating glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Update from Marula:
The Astra Academy students have been hard at work this of late! Divided into three groups, they spent time learning to operate the TLB and Skid Steer, while also gaining hands-on experience in the workshop — exploring how it runs and learning the basics of mechanics.

Another exciting step forward in their journey of practical learning and real-world skills development.
