Raising Africa's Future Leaders with the right tools to transform their communities through Servant Leadership, Tenacity, Accountability & Responsibility

05/06/2026

Just as trees shape the landscapes around them, young leaders shape the communities around them. This World Environment Day, we celebrate Star Leadership Academy students who are leading through action. From litter picking and community clean ups to promoting sustainable habits in their schools, universities, workplaces, and communities, they are proving that leadership extends beyond people to the world around us.

Every piece of litter collected, every tree planted, and every environmentally conscious decision contributes to a healthier future for us all.

How are you making your corner of the world a little better today?

In March 2026, Star Leadership Academy hosted an AI Skills Seminar on our campus for selected HigherLife Foundation scholars across different programs and academic years.

Led by our leading facilitators, Mr ,Dr and Learnmore Masanga (General Manager of AI at Econet Wireless Zimbabwe), students explored AI for academic excellence, prompt engineering, creative AI, responsible use of technology and and other AI tools and applications critical for academic and professional excellence.

Students created real outputs using AI, including applications, songs, and videos.

AI literacy and the ability to effectively leverage AI tools are becoming essential leadership skills for the modern era, shaping how young people think, solve problems, communicate ideas, and influence the world around them.

At Star Leadership Academy, we intentionally create access to this kind of learning, equipping scholars not only with knowledge, but with the skills and exposure needed to lead in a rapidly evolving world.

Within this space, we are shaping a generation of young leaders who are not just adapting to the future, but actively building it.

At STAR Leadership Academy, we believe leadership begins with seeing the world not just as it is, but as it could be ~ pioneering spirit.

Nigel Chirambagowa (SLA Class of 2024) and Ashley Mawire (Class of 2023) are doing just that; looking at the challenges in their communities and crafting thoughtful, practical solutions to make a real difference.

This is what we love to see - young leaders with heart, vision, and purpose.

Celebrating Impact

This week, we spotlight Laura Baraza, SLA Class of 2023, a recent IB graduate from UWC Waterford KaMhlaba.

From Kenya to Zimbabwe, then Eswatini, and soon onward to Canada or the UK, her story is not a journey of miles, but a journey of becoming.

She arrived at SLA curious, determined, quietly powerful, and through moments of challenge, community, and discovery, she grew into a leader who thinks, questions, reflects, and acts. In her own words, โ€œSLA taught me that leadership isnโ€™t about standing in front, itโ€™s about listening, growing, and showing up for others.โ€

That is the impact we celebrate.
Not just a graduation, but transformation.
Not just opportunity, but purpose.
Not just access, but a life expanding into possibility.

Laura represents what happens when young minds are seen, equipped, and trusted to spread their wings.
