I swapped our conventional chest rub for a simple DIY made with coconut oil and pure essential oils.
One thing I’ve learnt on our low-tox journey is to start flipping products over and reading the ingredient list. Small swaps like this can add up over time, and I love knowing exactly what’s in the products I make for my family.

See you next Sunday for another simple low-tox swap. 💚

We were paying $40-$50 a box… to wash our plates in stuff I wouldn’t want near my kids 😬
That chemical residue doesn’t just rinse off; it can end up on your cutlery, plates, and cups, and eventually into your body. No thanks 🙅♀️
Now we make our own for a fraction of the cost and they’re simple, effective, and totally low-tox.
If you’re ready to make the swap too…

📌 Save this reel so you’ve got it ready for your next op shopping trip, and send it to your favourite thrifting buddy!
These are four of my favourite inner south op shops in Adelaide:
🤍 Aggie’s
🤍 Salvos Melrose Park - quality clothing for great prices + most toys are just $2, also have lots of furniture
🤍 Vinnies Mitcham
🤍 Stop By Op Shop - great for toys and kids clothes
I’ve found some of my best thrifted pieces at these stores, and they’re always my first stop when I’m looking for affordable, quality finds.
💬 Have I missed one that’s worth visiting? Let me know below (I might need to add it to my list!).
We hear it all the time… “Don’t blink, they grow up so fast.”
That’s one of the reasons I started building a business alongside teaching and raising my boys.
Not because I wanted to leave my job, but because I wanted more flexibility, more choices, and more time for moments like this.
The extra income is nice, but the extra time is even better.
❤️ Comment TIME if you’d like to learn how I fit this around teaching and three boys.
✨ Low-Tox Sunday Swap #2 ✨
Years ago, I would’ve been wearing gloves every time I cleaned.
Products like Jif and Gumption are common in many homes, but when I started looking at the ingredients and safety data sheets, I found ingredients such as surfactants, silica and fragrance, along with warnings about skin, eye and respiratory irritation.
That was enough to make me rethink what I was using around my family.
Now I make a simple cleaning paste that works brilliantly on showers, sinks, baths, stovetops, ovens and marks on walls.
It’s cost-effective, cuts down on unnecessary toxin exposure, and works so well I usually only need a cloth or my hands - no gloves, and no sore hands afterwards.
Small swaps like this have made a big difference in our home. 🤍
Comment PASTE if you’d like the recipe.
Low-tox cleaning isn’t “too expensive.”
Target runs and impulse Kmart buys are.
We’ll spend $200 on decor without blinking…
But question investing in products we use every single day on our skin, floors and air?
Your health isn’t the luxury.
It’s the priority.
Comment SWAP if you want to see how I simplified my cleaning without spending more 💛
“Mum, make sure nobody breaks our creation.”
Famous last words.
The boys left for school, the toddler spotted his opportunity, and the rest is history.
