Bellevue Heights Primary School

Year 2 students have been reading the book The Awesome Emu. Inspired by the story, they designed and created their own unique birds, incorporating features and characteristics found in Australian animals.
For the background of their artworks, students explored Indigenous symbols featured in the book. They chose to use the waterhole symbol, which represents an important meeting place and source of life, to enhance their designs and connect their learning to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
Through this project, students used their imagination and creativity to combine storytelling, design and visual arts techniques to create vibrant and meaningful artwork.

Walk Safely to School Day!
This national event encourages all students to walk and commute safely to school.
The initiative lies perfectly with our school’s focus on healthy brains.
Our SRC and Well Being Leaders greeted our students with healthy fruit platters to start the day.

In Room 16 we have been learning about narratives. The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson is our mentor text. The children all made their own snails then designed something as an alternative to the whale, for it to explore the world in.
