🧡🐠 As part of our Ocean Inquiry, the children engaged in a fun and meaningful colour sorting activity using ocean-themed materials. Through hands-on exploration, they sorted objects by colour, developing their observation, classification, and early mathematical skills.
This experience encouraged the children to recognise patterns, make connections, and discuss the different colours found in the ocean and the creatures that call it home. Activities like these support learning through play while building confidence, communication, and problem-solving skills.
🧡 At Brightside Early Learning Centre, we provide opportunities for children to learn, explore, and discover through engaging experiences.

A moment of active outdoor play captured in perspective 🌿
A child was seen hanging upside down, completely immersed in movement and laughter, experiencing the world from a different point of view. In this moment of joy and freedom, they explored balance, body awareness, and spatial understanding through play.
These simple, spontaneous experiences support confidence, resilience, and a deep sense of wellbeing in outdoor learning! 🌿

A glimpse of learning recently ✨
Children and educators shared a meaningful moment of co-learning while exploring glue, cellophane squares, and pattern-making. Through conversation and collaboration, ideas were exchanged, tested, and extended together.
In a beautiful, unplanned moment, a child shared their love of a favourite colour—bringing the cellophane square to their eye and looking through it like a lens. What followed was wonder, curiosity, and shared discovery as learning unfolded naturally through play.

Recently at Brightside Early Learning Centre, the children enjoyed a fun and engaging visit from Smile Safari, who helped us explore dental health and the importance of caring for our teeth. 🦷🪥
This type of learning opportunity is highly beneficial in early childhood as it makes important health topics fun, relatable, and easy to understand.
Through hands-on activities and engaging conversations, the children are more likely to develop positive habits around brushing, oral hygiene, and feeling confident about visiting the dentist.
We are grateful for opportunities like this that support children’s wellbeing, curiosity, and lifelong learning.
Thank you for the team at .au 🦷🪥😁

Through engaging in doll play, children develop a range of important skills through meaningful and imaginative experiences. 🍼👶
Dressing dolls supports fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving, while caring for and putting dolls to sleep encourages empathy, nurturing behaviours, and an understanding of daily routines and self-care practices.
Role play experiences such as these also strengthen communication, confidence, and social-emotional development!

Our sandpit ⛱️🏵️
Two children adapted their roles during open-ended-play- one carefully digging and providing sand, while the other prepared and positioned the bucket, ready to be turned and shaped!
Together they negotiated, collaborated, and adjusted their ideas as the play unfolded. ☀️🌿

⚽ National Simultaneous Storytime Day 2026!
Today, we acknowledge the Australia-wide event, organised by the Australian Library and Information Association.
This year, we follow 'Luna Roo', a spirited kangaroo who loves soccer and faces the challenges as she chases her sporting dreams. Themes highlight teamwork, resilience, movement and fun! 🏵️👇
Why do we participate? For all children to connect together, the same story, the same time, across all school and early learning Centres. To further their love for storytelling.
Here, the book was returned outside, whilst reading we heard the following "hey! Do you want to play kick with me?" Across our outdoor space.
