Your ego is a defense mechanism protecting your fragile identity.
Notice when ego appears.
Someone disagrees with you.
Someone criticizes you.
Someone questions your competence.
Suddenly the mind feels attacked.
But what exactly is being attacked?
Usually, it is not the truth.
It is the image you have built of yourself.
The ego protects the story:
"I am important."
"I am right."
"I must be respected."
Anything that threatens that story feels like danger.
This is why people become defensive.
They interrupt.
They argue.
They justify.
They escalate.
Not because they are strong.
Because the identity feels unstable.
Epictetus observed something simple:
If someone's words disturb you, it means you believe they have the power to define you.
That belief is the real problem.
Instead of defending your image, examine the criticism.
Ask yourself: "Is there truth in this?"
If yes, then improve.
If no, then ignore it.
Either way, ego becomes unnecessary.
Strong minds do not rush to defend themselves.
They listen.
Because truth is more valuable than protecting pride.
Ego wants to win arguments.
Wisdom wants to understand reality.
These two goals rarely coexist.
The moment you stop protecting an identity, something surprising happens.
Criticism loses its sting.
Because your worth is no longer tied to perception.

Whatever week you’re having, know that you are so damn beautiful, strong, and brave.
You must learn to trust that there is a future waiting for you, that is beyond what you might be able to grasp at this present moment and it is amazing!
Keep going & loving yourself.
Everything will happen the way it has to happen.
Everything you’re stressing about will eventually fall into place.
You will be able to see that you’re guided and protected.
There is nothing to worry about.
Just be present & be the best that you can be.
Both fear and faith ask you to believe in something you can’t see.
