The Electoral Commission South Australia (ECSA) have begun issuing notices to electors who are not recorded as having voted in the State Election.
If youโre identified as a non-voter, you may receive up to three notices under the Electoral Act 1985 and the Expiation of Offences Act 1996. If the matter isnโt resolved, it may be referred to the Fines Enforcement and Recovery Unit.
If you received a notice, hereโs what to do:
โ
If you did vote โ Follow the instructions to provide details
โ
If you couldnโt vote โ Submit a valid reason
๐ฉ You must respond using the official notice (reply-paid envelope or online).
๐ฌ If you donโt respond, further notices may be issued and the matter could be referred for enforcement.
ECSA may contact identified non-voters with up to three notices to confirm if there was a valid reason.
