🧸 Today's the day these Prospect teddy bears have their picnic! 🧺

Happy World Picnic Day! πŸŒπŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ What better way to celebrate than with all the children coming together for a centre-wide shared lunch.

Not only was this a fun experience for the children, but meal times like these build a sense of belonging and community as they practice their social skills, life-skills and explore new flavours throughout a nutritious meal time.

What do you get when you mix plastic drums, tree branches, tarps, and a whole lot of creativity? πŸ™Œ An epic day of play with Glenn the Mobile Junk Man!

The Emali Broadview children embraced the joy of building, problem-solving, and taking safe risks β€” all while connecting with nature and each other. These kinds of experiences are what childhood is all about! 🩷🌎

🌿πŸͺ΅ Using a mix of β€œjunk”, repurposed items and natural materials, the children were introduced to concepts of construction, teamwork, risk-taking, and creativity in a safe & engaging space.
This kind of open-ended loose-parts play builds more than just structures β€” it builds confidence, curiosity and stronger foundations of essential life skills. 🧠πŸ’ͺ
With sticks, ropes, crates, rocks and more, our preschoolers got hands-on with their learning while getting gloriously muddy along the way.

♻️ A big thank you to Glenn for sparking creativity, movement, and a love for sustainability in such a fun and meaningful way!

🚨 This week at Emali Littlehampton, our children participated in β€œThank A First Responder Day” with special visits from local services helping the children to learn about and recognise the support first responders give our community each and every day. πŸš’πŸ¦ΊπŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ

Through meaningful discussions, dress ups, hands-on experiences and some emergency vehicle demonstrations πŸš‘, children explored the important roles of Police, Ambulance, CFS, and SAPN just to name a few, developing an understanding of how these community heroes respond when people need assistance during emergencies and how they help keep us safe. 🩷

Experiences like these are a valuable part of children's learning, helping them build familiarity and confidence around emergency services while fostering an appreciation for the people behind the uniforms.

By creating positive connections and understanding from an early age, children learn more about the world around them and the many people who work together to support our communities.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all first responders for your dedication, courage and commitment to helping others. ❀️

A pinch of learning, a spoonful of fun and a whole lot of confidence! πŸ‘©β€πŸ³βœ¨

The Emali Morphett Vale children have been busy exploring the joy of cooking while building valuable life skills that support their learning and development.

Did you know cooking helps children develop:
🩷 Fine motor skills through scooping, pouring, whisking and stirring
🩷 Early maths concepts including counting, measurement and capacity
🩷 Communication and language skills through discussions and following instructions
🩷 Turn-taking, cooperation and teamwork when working alongside friends
🩷 Problem-solving and critical thinking as they predict, observe and create
🩷 Confidence, focus and independence by contributing to the cooking process
🩷 Sensory awareness through exploring different textures, smells, colours and tastes

From measuring and mixing to creating and tasting, every step provides meaningful opportunities for learning through play. The best part? Enjoying their delicious creations together and feeling proud of what they achieved!

Growing future changemakers! 🌍

At Emali Brighton, children proudly care for our worm farm and compost, water the garden with leftover drinking water, and grow fresh herbs and veggies to help prepare their own lunches! πŸ₯•βœ¨

Through hands-on sustainability practices, children develop confidence, responsibility and a strong connection to the world around them. We love seeing the pride on their faces as they watch their efforts grow and flourish! 🌿🌞

This National Reconciliation Week, our Emali communities came together to learn, listen, reflect and connect.

Across our centres, children engaged in meaningful experiences that explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives, fostering curiosity, respect and a growing understanding of the world around them.

Inspired by this year’s theme, All In, we recognise that reconciliation is not confined to one week, it is embedded in our daily practice. It is an ongoing commitment to building respectful relationships, valuing First Nations voices, and creating learning environments where every child develops a sense of belonging and connection to community.

We are proud of the thoughtful conversations, shared learning and genuine moments of discovery that took place across our centres, and we remain committed to embedding reconciliation in our everyday practice.

Together, we continue learning, growing and walking forward with respect.
