On Friday 12th June St Francis School competed in the SACPSSA Basketball Carnival Day that was held at the State Basketball Centre, Wayville. Both our boys and girls team competed extremely well on the day, the boys team finished up with 3 wins and 3 losses. Our girls team finished the day undefeated and we awarded 1st place overall. Well done to both teams for a wonderful showcase of the basketball talent we have amongst these age groups. A special thank you to Mr Goldy for all of the preparation work that he did leading into the day with lunchtime training sessions and guidance.

Our Year 3 scientists have been investigating convection, forces, and motion. As part of their learning, students investigated candle carousels and explored how changing different variables affected their movement. They tested the effect of using different numbers of candles and adjusted the height of the carousel above the heat source to determine which combination was most effective at making the carousel spin.
Through their investigations, students observed how warm air rises and creates convection currents that can generate motion. They carefully recorded their observations, compared results, and used their findings to explain how heat energy can be transferred through the air. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm, teamwork, and scientific thinking as they conducted their experiments and shared their discoveries.

T-Shirt Day Reminder
Wednesday 10th June will be our whole school T-Shirt Colour Day. Students are asked to come to school wearing a plain coloured t-shirt in the colour allocated to their year level below. These colours represent those of the Aboriginal Flag, and we are hoping to capture a special drone photo of our students creating the flag formation on the oval, an image we are very excited to share with our community once we achieve the perfect shot.

National Reconciliation Week is an important time to reflect, listen, learn, and strengthen our commitment to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
At St Francis, we are proud to have created a welcoming space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families can learn, connect, and grow together. Through meaningful cultural experiences and rich educational opportunities, we continue to celebrate culture, community, and connection while fostering understanding and respect for all.

Lunch time chicken love ❤️
The students love when Mr Daley gets our feathered friends out at lunch time. The joy can be seen and heard right across the oval. What wonderful birds we have, who truly enjoy a snuggle.

Congratulations to the students who proudly represented St Francis at the recent Cross Country Trials. We are incredibly proud of the effort, determination, and sportsmanship shown by each student, and the wonderful way they represented our school.
We would also like to acknowledge and congratulate the five students who have qualified for the State Championships at Oakbank. This is a fantastic achievement, and we wish them all the very best as they compete at the next level.
