Our Pre School house Weekly reflection :
This week, the children immersed themselves in a range of experiences inspired by The Colour Monster. Through stories, discussions, and hands-on exploration, children developed their understanding of emotions and began making connections between different feelings and the colours represented in the book. Many children confidently identified emotions such as happiness, sadness, anger, calmness, and excitement, while also sharing personal experiences and recognising these emotions in themselves and others. These experiences supported Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity, as children developed emotional awareness and began to recognise and regulate their feelings, as well as Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing through building emotional literacy and resilience.
Sensory play continued to be a strong focus throughout the week, especially in this cold and wet weather, providing opportunities for children to explore, create, and regulate their emotions. Experiences included a shaving cream ice cream shop, rice and bug sensory trays, clay exploration, and finger painting. These open-ended experiences encouraged creativity, language development, problem-solving, and social interaction as children worked alongside their peers. This learning linked strongly to Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners, as children investigated, experimented, and used their senses to explore materials and ideas.
A particularly exciting moment this week was observing our final butterflies emerge from their cocoons. The children eagerly watched the transformation process and engaged in meaningful conversations about life cycles, growth, and change. This experience fostered curiosity, inquiry, and respect for living things, supporting Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world and Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners through observation, questioning, and scientific thinking.
Our home corner was transformed into a doctor's surgery, providing rich opportunities for imaginative and cooperative play. Children enthusiastically took on roles as doctors, nurses, receptionists, and patients, using their growing knowledge of community helpers to guide their play. Through these experiences, children practiced communication skills, empathy, turn-taking, and problem-solving while exploring concepts related to health and wellbeing. This learning reflected Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity, Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world, and Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators as they negotiated roles, shared ideas, and engaged in meaningful conversations during play.

Dear Families,
Meet our team from Toddlers 2 room.
🌱 The Role of Educators in the Toddlers Room 🌱
At Goodstart Aberfoyle park In our Toddlers Room, educators play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel secure, valued, and supported to learn and grow.
Our educators build strong, trusting relationships with each child, helping them develop confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging. Through play-based learning experiences, educators encourage curiosity, creativity, communication, and problem-solving while supporting children's social and emotional development.
Educators carefully observe children's interests and strengths to plan meaningful experiences that extend learning and promote development across all areas. They guide children in building friendships, learning to share, express emotions, and develop important life skills.
Most importantly, our educators act as responsive and caring role models, fostering a love of learning and ensuring every child has opportunities to thrive, explore, and reach their full potential.
💛 Together, we create a learning environment where every child feels respected, empowered, and inspired to discover the world around them.
