โšฝ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’› Go Socceroos! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’šโšฝ
Today our students enjoyed watching the Socceroos World Cup match during their break time. It was great to see a sea of green and gold around the school as everyone came together to support Australia and cheer on our national team!
To add to the excitement, we also celebrated the AFL Showdown with some delicious Port and Crows donuts. The tasty treats were a big hit with students and staff, adding a little friendly rivalry and lots of smiles to the day.
What a wonderful day of sport, community and school spirit! โšฝ๐Ÿ‰

๐Ÿ“šโœจ Learning in RM โœจ๐Ÿ“š
In RM students have been learning about God's special book, the Bible, and exploring the Creation Story. Together, we reflected on the words, "When God saw the world He had created, He knew it was very good."

Inspired by God's creation, the children used their creativity to design and create their own worlds, carefully including elements of nature such as plants, animals, land, water and sky. It was wonderful to see their imagination and appreciation for the beauty of God's world shine through in their work.

๐ŸŒโœจ Genesis 1:31: "God saw all that He had made, and it was very good." โœจ๐ŸŒ

In 1D this term, weโ€™ve been diving into reading comprehension! ๐Ÿ“š
Students begin with modelled reading, learning how grammar can shape expression and tone. Theyโ€™ve been exploring features like noun groups, homophones, repetition, and rhymeโ€”and how authors use these to bring texts to life.
We then come together as a class to read and discuss, building shared understanding before students take on their own learning.
Itโ€™s been wonderful to see our students growing in confidence as they respond thoughtfully and independently to a range of comprehension tasks! โœจ

๐Ÿ“šโœจ Learning in 3AW โœจ๐Ÿ“š
Students in 3AW have been busy developing their writing skills by creating information reports and exploring cyclical explanations. After reading Storm Boy, students wrote information reports about Australian animals, building their knowledge and understanding of our unique wildlife ๐Ÿจ
With so many ladybugs around the school, students took their own photos of ladybugs at different stages of their life cycle. These real-life examples have helped us sequence and better understand each stage of their development ๐Ÿž
We are now working together to jointly construct a cyclical explanation, building on our observations and knowledge.
Weโ€™re also very excited for our upcoming excursion to the Adelaide Zoo, where we will continue to explore and deepen our understanding of life cycles! ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŒฟ

โœจ Learning in 5Bโœจ
Our Year 5 students had a fantastic time attending a private screening of The Sheep Detectives as part of our English learning!
After enjoying the film, students put their critical thinking skills to work by writing their own film reviews, sharing their opinions and recommendations. They then took it a step further by turning their reviews into podcasts, building confidence in speaking, and working together.
Through this experience, students developed their ability to structure their writing, use rich vocabulary, and clearly justify their opinions. They also strengthened their speaking and listening skills by recording podcasts, as well as collaboration skills by working with peers to plan and present their ideas.
It was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect their classroom learning to a real-life experience in a fun and meaningful way!
