๐ง๐ปโ๐จ As part of the 2026 Fleurieu Biennale, our students were proud to participate in The Box Project, a community art initiative delivered in partnership with the McLaren Vale Good Bank Gallery.
๐ฟโ๏ธ Students were invited to transform ordinary boxes into meaningful artworks inspired by the theme โSense of Placeโ, exploring their connections to the local environment and the landscapes they call home.
The project aligned with Year 9 Visual Arts curriculum where students explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art practices, including representations of Country and the mapping of land and experiences through aerial perspectives. Drawing on this learning, students created unique box artworks depicting places that hold personal significance, offering fresh perspectives on the diverse landscapes of the Fleurieu Coast. ๐
This project highlights the power of artistic expression in helping students explore identity, connection, belonging and pride in their community.
๐ All community members are invited to visit the Good Bank Gallery in McLaren Vale between 15 - 28 June to view these inspiring artworks and support this wonderful community initiative.
A sincere thank you to the Good Bank Gallery for providing our students with the opportunity to share their creativity with the wider community. ๐

A group of our Year 12 students had the privilege of attending the 2026 Australian of the Year Breakfast at the Adelaide Convention Centre, featuring Australian of the Year Katherine Bennell-Pegg.
๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ Making history as the first person to qualify as an astronaut under the Australian flag and the first Australian woman to receive professional astronaut wings, Katherine shared her extraordinary journey of determination, discovery and breaking new ground.
๐ช Her story was a powerful celebration of curiosity, courage, leadership and community spirit, inspiring students to dream boldly, embrace challenges and pursue their passions. ๐ญ
A truly memorable and inspiring experience that encouraged our students to look beyond the ordinary and imagine what is possible.

โจ To conclude Reconciliation Week, we are proud to share the inspiring work of our Year 8 Visual Arts students.
Throughout the week, students explored Aboriginal art and learned how Aboriginal artists use dot painting techniques and cultural symbols to tell powerful stories. Inspired by these practices, students developed their own dot painting skills while creating unique symbols to represent their hobbies, interests and identities.
To further connect with one of the oldest continuing artistic traditions in the world, students also created handprints, reflecting the ancient practice of hand stencilling found in rock art across Australia.
The final artworks beautifully combine storytelling, symbolism and artistic techniques, celebrating each studentโs unique story and creative voice.
We are incredibly proud of the creativity, respect and thoughtful engagement our students demonstrated throughout this learning experience. ๐จโจ

Do you know another successful graduate of CBHS? As we celebrate Public Education Day, weโd love to recognise the achievements of our alumni who began their journey at Christies Beach High School. โบ๏ธ
This kid from Christies Beach High School had absolutely no idea what his future looked like.
A Member of Parliament? Not even close to being on the radar.
But thatโs the thing about public schools. They have a way of quietly expanding what we think is possible.
For me, it meant becoming the first in my family to walk through the doors of a university. It meant discovering ambitions I didnโt even know I had.
On Public Education Day, Iโm thinking about every kid sitting in a classroom right now who canโt yet see where life might take them.
Our public schools are doing that work. Every single day.

Congratulations to Year 11 student Triston whose artwork was voted as this years Santos Ltd Aboriginal Power Cup guernsey design. ๐ ๐ซ
Tristonโs artwork, titled Our Mob, Our Country, reflects the Country of the Kaurna people. The boomerangs represent the land and the coastlines, while the different coloured dots represent the many different language groups who occupy the land.
๐คโค๏ธ๐
The common trail represents the journey of various mobs who all share the land. The meeting places represent where the people get together to share food.
We are incredibly proud of Triston for sharing such a meaningful and powerful piece of artwork that celebrates culture, connection and community. โจ ๐คโค๏ธ๐

On this day each year, we reflect on the immeasurable harm done by the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families and communities, which we now refer to as the Stolen Generations.
We acknowledge the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations survivors, their families and communities, and recommit to playing our part in the process of healing and reconciliation.
