The Welcoming Australia Symposium proved to be an outstanding success, featuring thought-provoking speakers and innovative projects that inspired and motivated attendees. SLAVA has maintained a strong partnership with Welcoming Australia, particularly with Kate Leaney, since 2022, and we are deeply grateful for the organization's invaluable support provided to Ukrainian displaced persons and migrants.
VYSHYVANKA DAY - 21 May 2026 - День Вишиванки. Today, Ukrainians around the world wear their VYSHYVANKA, a traditional hand-embroidered shirt where every pattern tells a story of identity, heritage, and love.
Every region of Ukraine has its own unique colours and stitching traditions, passed down through generations of mothers and grandmothers. Each thread carries memory. Each stitch carries pride.
For our Australian friends: if you see us in a beautifully embroidered shirt, that's a vyshyvanka. It's 1,000 years of Ukrainian art, worn close to the heart. It's an invitation to ask, to learn, and to connect.
Today we celebrate not a garment, but a living culture that no war can erase.
З Днем Вишиванки! Happy Vyshyvanka Day!
