ST MARTIN’S CULTURAL DAY 🌏

Last Friday, St Martin’s came alive with colour and pride as we celebrated Cultural Day – a joyful reminder of the strength and beauty found in our diversity. Throughout the day, we celebrated and embraced the many languages, traditions and cultures that bring life and richness to our vibrant learning environment.

The celebrations commenced with a special liturgy, followed by a performance from our talented Senior Choir and energetic drumming by our Percussion Ensemble. Our Community Hall then came alive with a Cultural Parade, with students proudly wearing cultural dress or colours representing countries from around the world.

In the evening, the Greenacres Walkerville Parish hosted a Cultural Dinner in the St Martin’s Community Hall, where food from around the world was shared and performances highlighted the rich diversity and unity of our community.

Thank you to our families for sharing and celebrating their cultures with us. Together, we are brighter, stronger and more connected as a global community. 🩵

COOKING FROM THE HEART 🩵
Every Friday this term, our Year 6 students have eagerly stepped into the kitchen, using their culinary skills to make a meaningful difference by preparing meals for those in need.

Cooking with compassion, our students have transformed vegetables donated by their peers and families into wholesome meals, turning ingredients into acts of kindness.

Soup has been a regular feature on the menu, providing warmth and comfort during the colder days and nights. These individual meals will be delivered to the Adelaide Day Centre for Homeless Persons on Moore Street - a city shelter founded by Sisters Janet Mead and Anne Gregory of the Sisters of Mercy, offering a supportive community for the disadvantaged.

t Martin’s is proud to partner with such a wonderful organisation, providing a valuable community service and outreach opportunity for our students as they cook from the heart and share kindness through food.

Join us in the Community Hall at 9:00am for the Cultural Day Launch followed by a Parade. The day will conclude with students participating in cultural activities with their Buddy classes.

Greenacres Walkerville Parish warmly invites families to a Cultural Dinner this 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟵 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝟲:𝟬𝟬-𝟴:𝟬𝟬𝗽𝗺, to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of St Martin's. The event will be held at the St Martin’s Community Centre.

Families are asked to contribute a dish to share with others. You are also invited to wear traditional dress, and are encouraged to organise a cultural performance.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY🔅
Last week, the sun was shining for World Environment Day, providing a wonderful opportunity for students to be outdoors preparing winter crops in our raised garden beds.

Students in Year 1R harvested the last of the radishes, refreshed the garden beds, and planted snow peas outside their classroom, where they will be able to watch them grow. Our Creation Carers were also busy potting winter vegetable seeds – including broccoli, kale and rocket - carefully preparing them to nurture and observe over the coming weeks. 🌱

YEAR 6 CAMP
AN ADVENTURE TO REMEMBER 🏕️🌿✨
What an incredible experience! Our Year 6 students spent three action-packed days at Mylor Adventure Camp – soaring through the treetops, aiming for bullseyes, scaling walls, and gathering around campfires.

Each day was filled with rich outdoor experiences, bringing new challenges and opportunities to build confidence and try new things.
