Our Nursery and Tiny Tots rooms have been all about sensory exploration and colour this week. Our activities ranged from sensory pathways and scarves to nature collage and ball colour sorting.
When our babies and tiny tots engage and explore the world through their senses, they not only enhance their cognitive growth, fine motor skills, language acquisition, and emotional regulation but also develop the foundation for lifelong learning.

Learning and developing understanding of early numeracy concepts through play is not only a core pedagogical approach in early years education, but it also fosters the childrenβs innate curiosity by engaging them with hands on experiences, that aim to make abstract concepts such as counting and measurement more tangible and engaging. Please enjoy some pictures of our children engaging/playing with numeracy, in a fun and exciting way, which will hopefully foster life long positive attitudes towards maths and numeracy.

This week, following World Oceans Day, our children and educators have immersed themselves in many different ocean-themed tough tray invitations and provocations.
What a great opportunity to not only explore and learn about sea animals and habitats, but also to cooperate and collaborate with each other and share resources while exchanging moments of happiness and joy with one another.

Literacy learning beings right from birth for children. This is a continuous process of building language, communication and reading skills. Fostering this learning builds a crucial foundation for lifelong learning. There are so many ways we can expose children to literacy during the day and in learning experiences. Our team of amazing educators support literacy learning in so many ways to benefit children learning from our Nursery to our Kindy Room.

This week our Toddler and Kindy2 children went for a visit to the Community Garden, where they engaged into a yoga/meditaion session followed by a walkthrough the garden to find flowers and enjoy nature. Yoga, combines movement with mindfulness, and it creates a health environment for children to slow down and develop their own emotional regulation strategies.

To start of this yearβs reconciliation week, our educators, children and families, engaged in many different activities ranging from nature painting and tough trays set ups to Damper making and boomerang throwing. We also had one of our parents joining in to share their culture and knowledge around Damper making in a bit to strengthen our understanding of this yearβs theme, which is βAll In". The theme emphasizes that reconciliation is a shared responsibility, not just an activity for First Nations people. It encourages everyday actions, truth-telling, and active participation in the national journey toward a more just and equitable future.

π€β€οΈππππ€ At Green Leaves Early Learning, weβre proudly All In for National Reconciliation Week 2026 π€β€οΈππππ€
From 27 May to 3 June, we come together to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day.
Reconciliation starts with all of us, including our youngest learners. Through moments of curiosity, storytelling, music, art and connection, children begin to build understanding, respect and a sense of belonging.
Because every small conversation, shared experience and learning moment helps us to build towards a more inclusive future, together.
