This morning, our Year 11 Aboriginal and Intercultural Studies and Photography & Design students were very kindly invited to attend Gorenang Mortabiin’s current exhibition, Baranga Maditjil Boodja, at the Albany Entertainment Centre.
Students were guided through the exhibition by local Noongar artist Aunty Jenni, alongside CEO Paula Foenander. They gained valuable insight into the process of creating an exhibition and how the artworks reflect this Boodja (Country).
Thank you to for this fantastic opportunity.
📍 The exhibition is open at the Entertainment Centre until 25 July (10am–4pm) and during event showings.

✨ Alumni Achievement ✨
Congratulations to David Blair on being awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours—what an incredible achievement! 👏
David was a student at ASHS from 1959–1963 and has gone on to become a leading gravitational wave physicist and Professor at UWA. His contributions to physics, precision measurement, gravitational wave research, and science education have made a lasting impact—not only in the scientific community, but also on generations of students and colleagues inspired by his passion for discovery. 🔬✨
We are incredibly proud to call David one of our alumni. Seeing his work recognised at this level is truly inspiring and so well deserved. 💫

Destination Uni!
Supporting our students to get their applications underway! 🎓
On Wednesday evening, our university bound Year 12 students attended an application afternoon, working alongside each other to complete their TISC applications. It was a great chance to support one another and take some of the pressure off navigating the process alone.
Following on from this, our senior school students spent Thursday meeting with university representatives to explore their options and get advice on scholarships and accommodation, with over 30 individual meetings taking place throughout the day!
We look forward to making this an ongoing event in our school calendar.
A big thank you to Curtin University, Murdoch University, Edith Cowan University (ECU) and both The University of Western Australia UWA Albany Campus for helping our students take the next step! 🙌

✨ Seasons for Growth at Our School ✨
This term, a small group of Year 7, 8 & 9 girls took part in the Seasons for Growth program 💛
Seasons for Growth recognises that change and loss are a normal part of life—and provides young people with the tools to understand and manage their feelings. Through creative activities and the powerful metaphor of the seasons, students build confidence, resilience and new ways of coping 🌿🍂❄️🌸
We wrapped up the program this week with a lovely Celebration Tea ☕🎉
When asked what they’d say to future participants, our students shared:
💬 “It helps with confidence”
💬 “It’s fun”
💬 “It’s really helpful”
💬 “Just try it!”
💬 “The group was kind and supportive”
💬 “It helps sort your feelings”
💬 “You can make new friends”
We’re so proud of these students for their courage and growth 💫
Each year, Chaplain Jen and I run programs across different year groups—keep an eye out for Expressions of Interest!
