COMMUNITY AND FAMILY STUDIES

Our Community and Family Studies students have been taking part in the Protecting the Egg activity, a hands on learning experience designed to simulate some of the responsibilities involved in caring for a child.

Using an egg as a β€œbaby”, students are challenged to keep it safe and intact while managing their daily routines, encouraging them to think about the importance of planning, organisation, commitment and safety when caring for a dependent individual.

Through this experience, students gain a greater appreciation of the responsibilities of parents and carers while developing empathy, problem-solving skills and an understanding of the factors that contribute to a child’s wellbeing. We are proud of the maturity, creativity and dedication our students have shown throughout this activity.

Today at recess, we celebrated Refugee Week with a special Diversity Morning Tea for students from refugee backgrounds, thoughtfully prepared and served by our Year 12 Hospitality students as a beautiful way to share connection, culture and community. A huge thanks to Mrs Depalo & Mrs Saul, along with their Yr 12 Hospo students for the wonderful spread!

CELEBRATION OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY MORNING TEA

This morning, our Year 12 Hospitality students showcased their skills by preparing food and assisting with the Celebration of Cultural Diversity Morning Tea. Their participation was a compulsory component of their assessment requirements and provided a valuable opportunity to apply their learning in a real world setting.

The morning tea celebrated the rich cultural diversity within our school community as part of Refugee Week. Students from diverse backgrounds were invited to attend and bring a friend to share in the occasion. We are proud to foster a welcoming and inclusive school environment where every student feels valued and respected.

✨ MHSDC @ Synergy Dance Festival, 2026. ✨

Our Dance Company students have worked incredibly hard throughout the year to perfect their performances. On Monday, they took the stage in both the 5:30pm and 7:30pm shows to perform their lyrical dance piece β€˜Pray’.

Even though we had a chaotic tech rehearsal during the day, the MHSDC girls demonstrated a huge amount of resilience to persevere through every single thing that went wrong. And for that, Mrs T is even more proud of the performance they were able to put on! 🌟 They were incredibly emotive, demonstrated clean lines, timing and looked beautiful in their costumes. πŸ˜πŸ’«πŸŽ‰

Their final performances for their jazz item are tomorrow night. So if you see them around, please wish them all a big CHOOKAS before they take the stage once again!
