Today our College community gathered to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart with a special Mass. Our Year 12 students celebrated in the Chapel, while students across the College gathered in other spaces to mark this important occasion.
Reflecting on the values of our Presentation heritage, Fr Elio beautifully captured the spirit of the Mass using the image of a butterfly emerging from a cocoon — symbolising a student moving beyond their own world and emerging to share their gifts with others.
We were also privileged to hear from Jade from Sacred Heart Mission, who spoke about the Mission’s important work supporting people experiencing homelessness, disadvantage and social isolation. Jade shared how our community can make a meaningful difference through service, advocacy and support.

Thank you, Star Community!
We are deeply grateful to our Star community for the extraordinary generosity shown throughout Giving Day 2026.
Together, you raised $70,005 for the Star Bursary Fund.
Every gift will help open doors for students whose circumstances may otherwise limit their opportunity to experience a Star education - supporting them to participate fully in school life, build connections and realise their potential.
In the spirit of Facta non Verba (Deeds not Words) our community has once again shown what can be achieved when we come together with generosity, hope and a shared belief in the potential of every young person.
Thank you to every donor, matching donor, volunteer, past student, parent, staff member and friend of Star who shared the campaign, gave so generously and helped make this day possible.
Your support will make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of young people at Star. Thank you.

We are delighted to share our Artist of the Week, Year 10 Visual Communication Design student, Amalya.
She shares:
This piece was created for my Year 10 Visual Communication Design task, where I had to design and render an outdoor architectural space using pen, copic marker and watercolour. I was inspired by the elegant villa architecture found around Italy's Lake Como, drawing on its arched columns, soft stone tones and relaxed living to create a garden pavilion. I wanted the final piece to capture the sense of calm Mediterranean luxury, using the warm lighting, furniture and greenery to bring the space to life.

There has been plenty of activity on site in recent weeks, with the Nano Nagle Centre continuing to make excellent progress. The scale of the building is becoming increasingly apparent as construction advances and we move closer to delivering this exciting new facility for our students and community.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we bring this important project to life.

We are delighted to share our Artist of the Week, Year 10 Photography student, Roxanne.
Roxanne shares, "'My photograph depicts a young girl walking along a road, symbolising life’s journey and the unexpected twists and turns that shape it. My photograph explores the importance of stepping beyond one’s comfort zone, with the use of black beads suggesting that when you stand still for too long, it can allow self-doubt and overthinking to take over.
The golden beads represent individuality and inner strength, embodying the idea of letting go, self-expression, and the courage to take the first step. While additionally reflecting the opportunities and growth that ricochet once you choose to move forward."
We congratulate Roxanne on her exceptional and thought-provoking artwork.

This week, Star of the Sea College joins communities across Australia in recognising Refugee Week.
The 2026 theme, A Million Stories, marks the milestone of one million refugees being welcomed to Australia since World War II and invites us to reflect on the journeys, experiences and contributions of people from refugee backgrounds.
As a Presentation community, we are called to respond with compassion, hospitality and justice.
To mark the beginning of Refugee Week, staff gathered for a special morning tea featuring catering from the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) Catering, a social enterprise that creates training and employment opportunities for people seeking asylum.
Donations collected during the morning tea will support the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project (BASP) www.basp.org.au, an organisation that provides practical support and advocacy for people seeking asylum.
Our Year 12 students have also been learning about the experiences of refugees and people seeking asylum through their Religious Education classes. As part of this learning, students planned and led fundraising initiatives in support of BASP, putting their learning into action and demonstrating a commitment to social justice.
Refugee Week concludes on 20 June with World Refugee Day. We encourage our community to visit www.refugeeweek.org.au to learn more about the experiences of refugees, explore this year's theme, A Million Stories, and discover ways to support a more welcoming and inclusive society.
