Results from the Summer Festival of Bridge
Our club members had some fantastic results down in Canberra.
Congratulations to Rena Kaplan, whose team won the National Womens Team championship! Her team won the final 125-59, a convincing victory.
Peter Buchen also did very well, winning the gold medal in the final of the National Seniors Team with a big score, 190-109.
Well done also to Michael Rosenman and Beatrice Bryl, who finished 3rd out of 84 in the Penline 500 Swiss Pairs Championship.
In the National Open Team, Liam's team MILNE (5th seed) made the semi-final, but lost to Ish's team MILNER (2nd seed). Ish's team went on to narrowly lose the final to the favourites LAVAZZA, a world-class team from Italy.

2016 Memberships due

Memberships for 2016 are now due. You will get a $5 early bird discount if you pay before the 31st January (end of this week). The fee is $100 and can be paid to Aidan or online.

The scores as shown online and on the noticeboard are correct. There will be no issue with the boards tomorrow. Thanks for all of your patience :)

Due to a problem with today's scores we have scored them in two sections.
There will still be free games for first overall and coffee for 2nd overall. Section one is under Saturday Morning and Section two is Saturday Evening.

Ish's team was pipped at the post by the Thomson team and ended up 2nd. A special well done to Kathy and Peter Buchen who are members of Kings and Queens!

Australian team returns from Asia-Pacific Championships

The Australian Open, Seniors and Ladies teams have returned from Bangkok.
The Open team came 6/14, the two Seniors teams were 4th and 8th/14, and the Ladies did very well getting a silver medal in their section!

Liam and Michael Wilkinson have left to play in Bangkok for the next two weeks representing Australia.
Liam is playing with Nye Griffiths, Michael is playing with Griff Ware and their teammates are Michael Courtney-Paul Wyer. Their NPC is Paul Lavings.

Well done to the new NSW Women's team!

Congratulations to the pairs who made the NSW Women's team, decided in the trials over the weekend. Patsy McCartney (playing with Cathryn Herden), Sybil Hurwitz - Monica Ginsberg, and Avril Zets - Giselle Mundell are all members and regular players at our club. (Below is a photo of the team)

Qualifiers for the NSW Open team were Nick Rodwell - Fraser Rew, Julian Foster - David Weston, William Zhang - Michael Wu.
