We took a couple of days off and went back to Northern NSW to celebrate my little brother’s beautiful wedding. Followed up with an early morning walk in the rainforest before our drive back to Brisbane. Easing back into work tomorrow with about 40 Little Builders on the Northside. Can’t wait to see what they create 🪚🔨👷‍♀️

Part of my motivation for the Tomato Patch Program was to inspire children to eat fruit and vegetables harvested from their own gardens. This was the first incursion created by LGT 20 years ago, and with use of my mobile potting stations, so many children throughout SEQ have had a chance to plant and grow their own food. This in turn can lead to them wanting to eat their creations due to a sense of ownership and fresh curiosity. Tonight Louis, a plain pasta and BBQ sauce regular, chopped, mixed, cooked and served his own version of spaghetti. Complete with tomatoes, spinach, garlic and feta, his sauce was rated a 10 out of 10. The “cooking goggles” were an added bonus 🤓🍝🌱🍅 His new favourite sauce brand, Bottle of Home, may or may not be hitting supermarket shelves in the near future 🤗

It’s been nearly 5 years since I developed the Little Builders Program. After a nasty fall from his scooter, Louis suffered a badly broken femur. Being basically immobile, we pulled him out of kindy for a few months and were scratching for ideas to keep him entertained. Although I was busy with my LGT gardening programs, I also had a small furniture building business on the side. With access to a mountain of timber offcuts, Louis and I would spend our days creating. We loved it so much that I decided to take it on the road. Now thousands of children each year are able to design and build their very own creations. These skills gained and micro lessons within this experience are so important for developing minds👷‍♀️🔨🪚 I should also note that Louis still insists that this is entirely his idea and insists that any profits made from this activity are to be sent his way 🙄🤣 www.littlegreenthumbs.com.au
