🌈Lights, Colours and Rainbows 🌈
Our preschoolers have been busy creating, exploring and redeveloping their own resources. The children have loved the bright pops of colour as they investigated different colours, textures and materials.
Through this play, they have been hypothesising, experimenting and wondering what might happen next, building their creativity, curiosity and problem-solving skills along the way.

Our Farm Fresh Produce Stand is back!
Take what you like – bring what you can!
Our produce stand is a beautiful way to introduce children to seasonal fruits and vegetables, while also helping them learn that not all produce has to look “perfect.” Vegetables and fruit can come in all kinds of weird sizes, funny shapes, and may even have a few brown spots — and that’s exactly how nature works!
We hope this little stand encourages curiosity, conversation, and community sharing. If you grow produce at home, or if your child spots an interesting fruit or vegetable at the shops that they would love to share with our community, please feel free to bring it along.
Thank you for helping us celebrate seasonal produce, sustainability, and the natural beauty of food just as it grows. 🌿🍎🥕🍋

Dear WVELC Families,
Thursday 18 June, we warmly invite you to join us for our annual Biggest Morning Tea. 🧁🍰🌻 All proceeds from the day will be donated to the Cancer Council.
Point of sale times:
7:30am – 9:30am for breakfast-style treats
2:30pm – 4:30pm for afternoon tea treats
Cash and EFT will be accepted on the day.
Additional monetary donations are also very welcome.
Each year, we take part in the Biggest Morning Tea in memory of one of our much-loved colleagues, Shanthi. 🌻Shanthi was a pillar of strength, guidance, warmth and love within our community, and food was one of her love languages.
Coming together in her memory helps us keep her presence close, while also recognising that cancer affects communities in many different ways. Through this event, we continue to support valuable resources, care and research.
We would love for you to join us, share in the morning tea, and support this meaningful cause.

Quick news from our Junior Preschool room!
It has been a busy month for our three-year-olds, who have been working on important fine motor skills, especially cutting. They have also been learning games with multiple rules and instructions, cooking, creating, and even making their own resources.
Well done, Joeys! Your creativity is truly one of a kind.

Our preschoolers recently harvested Jerusalem artichokes from around the centre and turned them into delicious fritters — Woden Valley ELC style!
We would love to invite our families to try making them at home too. Cooking together is such a beautiful way to continue children’s learning beyond the centre, while exploring seasonal food, gardening, measuring, mixing, tasting and sharing.
Jerusalem artichokes cook a little like potatoes, so they are perfect for fritters, roasting or adding to your favourite winter recipes.
If you do make them at home, we would love to hear how they turn out! 💚
From garden to plate — learning through nature, food and connection.
