Join us in congratulating Nickie Wickert, who has received the 2026 Castle Hill Rotary Club Excellence in Teaching Award.

With 31 years of dedicated Lasallian service to Oakhill College, Nickie has consistently demonstrated outstanding commitment to students, colleagues and the broader community. As a teacher, coach, mentor and Academic Head of PDHPE, she works tirelessly to foster a strong student focus, empowering young people to strive for excellence in and beyond the classroom.

Nickie's impact extends far beyond teaching. As the first captain of the Australian Women’s Rugby Union team and a respected coach, she has modelled leadership, perseverance, talent and integrity at the highest level. She has represented Australia on the national stage and has been a powerful advocate for girls’ sport, championing participation and leadership opportunities for students.

Her ability to translate these qualities into education has made a lasting contribution to the formation of students, particularly in promoting respect, teamwork and leadership through sport.

Highly regarded by colleagues, Nickie is known for her professionalism, empathy and collaborative approach, which has built a culture of excellence within Oakhill and the wider College community.

This recognition reflects not only her exceptional contribution to education, but also her influence as a role model in sport and leadership. A truly well deserved and humbly received honour.

Benildus Hall was absolutely electric for the annual Greatest Hits Night! Year after year, this event sells out and proves why it’s one of the highlights on the Oakhill calendar. Our elective music and dance students, alongside our premier College ensembles, left everything on the stage with a spectacular showcase of pure talent.

Guided by our fabulous hosts, College Music and Drama Captains Aidan Johnson-MacRae and William Abouhamad, the night took on special meaning as we celebrated '90 Years Lasallian' through a musical journey spanning nine decades of hits.

It was a phenomenal night that reminds us of the incredible creative depth we have in our community.

Entries were judged across three categories: Best Overall Recreation, Most Accurate Lookalike and Most Creative Interpretation. Winners are announced in our Newsletter: https://www.oakhill.nsw.edu.au/community/newsletter

This week, Oakhill was privileged to attend the Young Lasallians Evening at Holy Spirit Catholic College, Lakemba. Senior students from De La Salle schools across Sydney came together in a shared mission, centred on the theme Social Justice - Beyond Left and Right.

In a time when conversations around justice can feel divided, the evening challenged students to look deeper, grounding their understanding in dignity, compassion and our Lasallian heritage.

Oakhill students were invited to reflect on the role they can play in responding to social justice issues with courage, purpose and empathy. The challenges are significant, but our shared values continue to guide and inspire meaningful action in a world that needs it.
