π Budget Day in Brisbane!
Yesterday, Keaton from Miami State High School joined students from more than 40 Queensland state high schools at Parliament House to hear Treasurer David Janetzki MP deliver the 2026β27 Queensland State Budget.
This unique experience provided students with an insight into how government decisions shape the future of education, infrastructure, health, transport and the broader Queensland community.
We are proud to see our students engaging with civic leadership and gaining a firsthand understanding of the processes that help shape our state.
Thank you to Ray Stevens MP for sharing this opportunity and supporting student engagement in government and public policy.

Year 7 Camp Adventures at Tamborine! πΏπΉπ§
Principal Mr Curran spent the afternoon with our Year 7 students at camp yesterday and was thrilled to see everyone embracing the experience with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure.
From scaling the giant climbing pole and testing their aim in archery, to tackling team-building challenges and supporting one another through every activity, our students have been making the most of every opportunity.
Camp is about so much more than outdoor activities. It is a chance to build confidence, develop resilience, strengthen friendships and create memories that will last a lifetime.
It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces, students stepping outside their comfort zones and the positive Miami spirit on display throughout the afternoon.

G:link Safety Awareness Campaign
π Think Safe. Stay Safe. Around the G:link.
Every day thousands of Gold Coast residents, students and visitors travel safely on the G:link network. Safety starts with being aware of your surroundings and making smart choices around trams and tracks. G:link reminds everyone that safety is a shared responsibility for passengers, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists alike.
β
Put your phone away when crossing tracks
β
Remove headphones and stay alert
β
Always use designated crossings
β
Check both directions before crossing
β
Never rush for a departing tram
β
Stay clear of tracks unless crossing at approved locations
A moment of distraction can have serious consequences. Let's work together to keep ourselves, our friends and our community safe.

History Made at Miami SHS! ππ
Miami State High School proudly celebrates a significant milestone with the launch of our inaugural Girls Rugby League team, who recently took to the field at the Titans Cup Gala Day.
For many of these students, this was their very first experience playing rugby league. Through weeks of training in challenging wet and rainy conditions, they demonstrated incredible commitment, resilience and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. Together they built not only their skills and fitness, but also strong friendships and team spirit.
Competing against schools with long-established Rugby League Excellence programs, our girls showed courage, determination and a never-give-up attitude in every match. While the results on the scoreboard did not tell the full story, their growth, effort and enjoyment of the game were clear for all to see.
This pioneering group has laid the foundation for Girls Rugby League at Miami SHS and created a legacy that future players will build upon. We congratulate every student involved for embracing the challenge and representing our school with pride.
Well done, girls. You have made history and given our school community plenty to celebrate. ππ

π Exploring Careers in Surveying
Our Industry & Vocational Training Officer, Mrs Fitzpatrick, and Year 11 student Bailey Byron recently attended an industry information session focused on careers in surveying.
During the session, they learned about the pathways into the profession, watched live demonstrations of surveying technology in action, and gained valuable insights into the important role surveyors play in shaping our communities. Bailey even had the opportunity to get hands-on and test some of the specialised equipment used in the field.
Surveying offers a diverse and rewarding career, combining technology, problem-solving, outdoor work and precision measurement across a range of industries including construction, engineering, mining and land development.
If a career in surveying sounds like something you would like to explore, please see Mrs Fitzpatrick for more information about training pathways and opportunities in this growing industry.
