📖 The FDC Diaries
The best moments of childhood aren't always the ones that get photographed.
They're often the muddy, messy, magical moments we're too busy enjoying to capture.

Tiger Selfie Time
A wonderful day spent at Dreamworld with Miss D and Miss Nicky.
The children enjoyed exploring, observing animals, discovering new sights and sharing the experience with their friends. Excursions like these provide meaningful opportunities for learning through real-world experiences while building confidence, curiosity and community connections.
It was a day filled with adventure, laughter and lots of special memories together.
Hello Monday!
A brand new week, fresh adventures and plenty of opportunities to learn, explore and have fun together. Let's make it a great one!
📖 The FDC Diaries
The more comments I read, the more I realised this isn't a rare experience.
So many parents shared stories of strangers taking photos, filming, or posting images of their children without permission.
Children are people too.
They deserve privacy, dignity, and respect just like any adult.
Maybe it's time we stopped asking "Can I?" and started asking "Should I?"

📖 The FDC Diaries
The response to my last video was bigger than I expected.
One comment kept coming up over and over again: "But they're in a public place."
And while that's true, I think there's a bigger conversation to be had.
Just because something is legal doesn't always mean it's respectful.
As educators and parents, we never know a child's story, a family's circumstances, or the reasons they may choose to protect their child's privacy. A little awareness and consideration can make a big difference.

Gumboot Day!
With beautiful sunshine instead of rain, we had to get creative and make our own puddles for splashing. The children loved filling, pouring and creating puddles before putting their gumboots to good use.
We also spent some time in the kitchen making pikelets, filling the day with lots of fun, laughter and hands-on learning. Sometimes the best adventures happen when you make your own fun.
Instagram vs Reality 💛😂
Instagram: A sweet little video of gumboots splashing in puddles.
Reality: One pair of gumboots is mine... and the other one is being operated by me from behind the camera because I don't film the children. No not even their feet.
Meanwhile, the children are standing nearby laughing because "Steffy's being weird again!"
On today's episode of 'The FDC Diaries'
Today I had to ask someone not to take photos of the children in my care while we were out in the community.
It got me thinking... when did it become acceptable to take photos of other people's children without permission?
As educators and parents, we work hard to protect children's privacy and safety, yet it seems more common than ever for phones to come out in public spaces without a second thought.
I'd love to know your thoughts. If you saw children playing at a park, would you take photos if they weren't yours?
💠Let's discuss respectfully in the comments.
Taking time to slow down and enjoy nature.
From climbing trees and exploring under the branches to listening to the birds and discovering the world around us, these simple moments outdoors encourage curiosity, confidence and a connection to nature.
