The Parents & Friends Trivia Night was a tremendous success, with almost 100 members of our community coming together for an evening of laughter, connection and healthy competition.
From challenging trivia rounds and exciting raffle prizes to great food and even better company, the night was a wonderful reminder of the strong sense of community that makes Overnewton so special. It was a privilege to attend the Sustainability Victoria 2026 ResourceSmart Schools Awards at the Melbourne Cricket Ground yesterday, where Overnewton celebrated its seventh nomination.
This year, our Synergy Sustainability Leader, Natalie Di Sauro, was recognised as a finalist in the Teacher of the Year (Secondary) category, acknowledging her outstanding contribution to sustainability education and environmental leadership.
Natalie and fellow Synergy leader Josh Reeves were joined by students with a passion for sustainability and spent the day exploring the inspiring projects on display by schools from across Victoria as part of the 2026 Sustainability Showcase.
The event provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with like-minded young people, discover innovative sustainability initiatives, and celebrate the collective impact schools are making towards a more sustainable future.

Our Athletics squad delivered their strongest-ever performance at the ACS Athletics Championships last week, bringing home a record nine championship flags and showcasing outstanding determination, teamwork and talent against the best athletes across the Association.
In an exceptionally close competition, with just 30 points separating first and fourth place overall, Overnewton finished a remarkable fourth - only five points behind third place. This result reflects the continued growth and strength of our Athletics program.
We also celebrate our students who finished among the Top 20 Athletes of the Meet, including Alysia and Nathan, who both achieved outstanding 2nd place finishes.
Congratulations to every student who competed, as well as our Athletics Captains Carlo, Alan and Alyssa, and staff Mr Riley Caines and Ms Carolyn Sadler for their leadership and support.
We are incredibly proud of what our students achieved and excited for what lies ahead in 2027!

Seussical KIDS was a triumph!
Our talented Year 5 & 6 students wowed audiences last week as they sang, danced and acted their way through the story of Horton the Elephant, bringing the magic of Dr Seuss to life on stage.
The cast should be incredibly proud of their performances, with surprise cameo appearances from Mr Moore, Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Di Stefano adding even more fun to the show!
Missed Season 1? Join us for Seussical KIDS Season 2 on September 9 & 10, featuring a whole new cast. Tickets on sale Term 3.

This week, students across the College have been taking part in meaningful activities and conversations for National Reconciliation Week, guided by this year’s theme, “All In”.
On Tuesday, we were proud and delighted to host students and staff from Melbourne Indigenous Transition School for our inaugural Reconciliation Sports Day. Students came together for AFL, basketball and volleyball in a celebration of connection, culture and community.
At Junior School, students explored the significance of the week for First Nations Australians and Australian culture through RaVE sessions and SRC messages.
Middle School, Year 9 and Senior School students also gathered for Reconciliation Week assemblies, with opportunities for reflection and student voice.
The theme “All In” is a call for shared commitment, reminding us that reconciliation is something we all contribute to every day. It asks us to move beyond awareness into action, working together to learn, listen and walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in meaningful and lasting ways.

Today our Year 1 and Year 4 students proudly welcomed their families into the Junior School for the second of this week’s Celebration of Learning events.
Students confidently guided their special guests through work samples and learning tasks, clearly explaining the purpose behind their work, how they approached challenges, and the progress they have made so far this year.
This week’s events saw our greatest parent involvement to date, with classrooms overflowing with families as students shared their learning journey. It was a wonderful celebration of the reflective and capable learners being nurtured across our Junior School.
