On Friday, all of Year 12 attended a seminar at the Seymour Centre to deepen their understanding of Module A - Textual Conversations.
The seminar provided students with valuable insights into the prescribed texts, helping them to refine their analytical skills and strengthen their preparation for the HSC. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with expert presenters and gain new perspectives on the module.
We were proud to see our students approach the day with enthusiasm and maturity, representing St George Girls High School so positively.

Yesterday, Year 11 Legal Studies students spent a day at the Downing Centre in the city, watching civil and criminal proceedings. They visited both the local courts and the district courts. Year 11 were treated to a 45-minute Q&A with the Chief Judge of the Local Court, which was fantastic. The girls were able to see the real-life application of all the theory we are currently studying in class. A fantastic day of learning was had by all!

Earlier this term, Year 8 Geography headed out to Circular Quay and the Rocks to undertake their mandatory Geography fieldwork. The focus was on Water in the World. The girls spent the day exploring the area and learning about the historic way that water was used in the Sydney CBD. They were also able to observe water testing of the harbour to assess pH levels. The day was perfect after a fortnight of rain, and everyone had a lot of fun!

Our Year 12 Drama students had the privilege of attending 'In Conversation with Michelle Law' at the Seymour Theatres on Tuesday. Michelle is the award winning playwright of the fantastic play, Single Asian Female, (which is one of the HSC Drama set texts) and Ms Peony, which also starred our ex St George Drama student, Mabel Li, in last year's Belvoir Theatre production. Michelle was very generous and answered all our students questions about her amazing plays, which will assist them greatly in their HSC exams.

On the weekend, senior History students enjoyed spending time at USYD, hearing from expert teachers and professors on topics related to their HSC studies. Here is a snap of some of the students enjoying the sunshine between lectures. Highlights included consideration of new developments in conservation and historiography, delving deeply into challenging syllabus themes and gaining further appreciation of examination skills, including effective use of sources. Our students showed great commitment to encouraging and challenging one another in their pursuit of academic excellence in History.

On Monday, Year 8 Japanese had the opportunity to visit the Tanken Japanese Centre. They took part in a range of game-based activities to enhance and consolidate their learning. Their favourite activity was learning about Japanese children's games like kendama and koma and having a go using them. They had sushi and edamame for lunch and Japanese snacks for recess. They thoroughly enjoyed the day and learnt a lot about Japanese culture.
