From last year’s performance opportunities to this year’s special invitations 🎷
Yesterday, our Jazz Band performed at the Future Leaders Frameworks event, sharing a full set of jazz standards with school leaders, principals, and Department staff from across WA.
The invitation came after the band’s performance at Opus last year, making this a fantastic example of how students’ hard work and dedication can lead to new opportunities and connections.
It was also great to welcome back Class of 2025 graduate Joshua Orr, now a Principal Trombone with WAYO, who joined the band for the performance.
We’re incredibly proud of the way our students represented themselves, their music program, and the wider Leeming community 👏

Could your family be our final host? 🇯🇵
We're so close to finding homes for all of the students visiting from our sister school, Hiroshima Kokusai Gakuin High School. In fact, we only have one student left to place, with a preference for a host family that has a female child.
A huge thank you to everyone who has already volunteered. If you've been considering hosting, now is the perfect time to get involved.

A few swings, a few putts, and plenty of progress ⛳
Earlier this term, our Year 10 Physical Recreation students headed to Melville Golf Centre to develop their golfing skills with coaching from a golfing pro.
Over three sessions, students refined their technique, took on a little friendly Par 3 competition, and gained firsthand experience of the social and recreational side of golf in the local community.
Most importantly, they represented Leeming brilliantly with their effort, attitude, and willingness to give something new a go. Well done Year 10s! 👏
Not long now ✂️
With just over a week until the World’s Greatest Shave, we’ve almost raised incredible $10,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Don’t forget you can also help by dropping eligible Containers for Change cans and bottles in the collection tub outside the HASS Office, and by supporting the bake sale on shave day (3 July) 🍪

Sometimes the most powerful stories are the ones shared face to face 📸
This term, our Year 12 Photography students had the chance to step into something pretty special as they took part in the Places Unsaid project at Bull Creek Community Centre, connecting with local seniors through storytelling and portrait photography.
By listening to stories, capturing portraits, and reflecting through their own writing, students gained new perspectives while helping preserve the stories that make up our community.
Their final works will form part of the City of Melville’s growing collection of community stories and will be exhibited at Wireless Hill in the coming months.
We can't wait to see their work on display.

Just 3 host families to go 🇯🇵 👏
Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered to host students from our sister school, Hiroshima Kokusai Gakuin High School. The response from our community has been fantastic.
We’re now looking for our final three host families before the group arrives from 28 July to 1 August.
For our Japanese Specialist Program students interested in the 2027 Japan Tour, it’s a wonderful opportunity to make international connections and experience a cultural exchange first-hand.

A camera can do more than capture a moment 📸
Earlier this term, our Year 10 Photography students visited WA Wildlife, using their photography skills to explore the stories behind wildlife conservation in Western Australia.
From meeting the people caring for injured animals to seeing the inner workings of a wildlife hospital, students gained a unique perspective while capturing their experience through the lens of a camera.
A memorable day of learning, curiosity, connection and fun.
