The student leaders in term 2 participated in the GRIT program with Chaplain Rachael. Grit stands for GROWTH MINDSET, RESILIENCE, INTEGRITY & TRACTION.
The students were challenged through different group activities and through reflection and debrief could relate it to their leadership and own everyday lives.
Some of the feedback from the student leaders:
I am resilience - team work is very important and makes it more fun.
I leant that I can work as a team.
Grit was really fun and everyone showed good leadership and team work.
I learnt how to have better leadership, and not everything that looks easy is easy.
I grew in the way I work in a team and grew in confidence.
See some of the photos from Grit. It was great that Mrs Finlay could join us for one of the group sessions.

This week, our school recognised Learning Disability Week. Students across the school had meaningful discussions in classrooms and completed a range of activities to celebrate the strengths, talents and unique ways that people learn. Yesterday, the school participated in a sunflower scavenger hunt ๐ป
๐ Learning Disability Week ๐
This week, the students in Block 2 have been exploring the idea that everyone has their own unique strengths and that we all have things we can be proud of. Together, we created an "I Can" board, celebrating the many talents, achievements and qualities that make each of us special.
Room 13 students created a personalised shield reflecting how they are all unique and celebrating their strengths.
Learning Disability Week helps raise awareness and understanding of learning disabilities while promoting a school culture where all students feel valued, included and supported.
National Reconciliation Week - Sea of Hearts Movement
This year at Ocean Road PS students took part in learning about some important events in Australia's history that coincide with National Reconciliation week. In celebration, as a beautiful way to wrap up this learning and in honour of the 2026 Reconciliation Weekโs theme of ALL IN - the whole school, from students, teachers, EA's, specialist teachers, administration staff, our principal, deputy principals and even our wonderful canteen staff participated in the National Sea of Hearts Movement where all across the country people express their idea of what reconciliation means to them on a heart to be displayed within the community.
Ours took place at Anzac cove on Thursday 4 June and what a delight it was as over the course of the day as I watched the space began to fill with incredible messages and art work while each person placed their hearts into the ground, helping ground their message of reconciliation directly to country, my own heart began to fillโค๏ธ
By the end of the school day, it looked absolutely amazing and it gave me so much joy to see the students bringing their parents along to show them their hearts and messages, this helps spark important conversations amongst families and for the students to share their learning.
I would like to take this opportunity to give thanks to everyone for the work that went into this project and in reflection of the messages displayed, I think we have a bright future ahead on the journey we all take towards reconciliation ๐
