Year 4 First Holy Communion Retreat

On Friday, the Year 4 students participated in their First Holy Communion Retreat in the College Gym. The retreat program included a variety of informative, enjoyable, and engaging activities that deepened students' understanding of the sacraments.

Throughout the day, students learned how we are welcomed into God's family through the Sacrament of Baptism, drawn closer to God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and united with Jesus through the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

Another outstanding result for our Mock Trial teams!

This week, two MCC teams competed in Round 3 of the WA Law Society Mock Trial Competition at the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Facing strong opposition from Bob Hawke College and Applecross Senior High School, both teams delivered impressive performances, demonstrating exceptional teamwork, preparation and advocacy skills.
In another double win, both MCC teams secured victories in their respective trials!

Congratulations to all students involved for their dedication and hard work, particularly during the busy exam period, and thank you to MCC alumna Jazlyn Read for her support and guidance as Student Coach.

Well done, everyone!

St Peter’s Feast Day

Mandurah Catholic College celebrated St Peter's Feast Day across Primary and Secondary. The students acknowledged and learned about St Peter, who had humble beginnings as a fisherman and became one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He is considered the first Pope of the Catholic Church! St Peter's students and staff attended liturgies in both the Primary and Secondary school, focusing on the life and endeavours of St Peter. Leaders cooked and served the traditional Feast Day sausage sizzle lunch to their peers and House staff.

Year 11 Retreat and Flourish Day

Our Year 11 students embarked on a transformative journey during their Retreat and Flourish Day.

The theme for the Retreat was Servant Leadership. It offered a sacred space for reflection and growth, inviting students to deepen their spiritual awareness and walk with purpose on their faith journey. The students looked at the qualities of a good leader with examples of local, national and global leaders, linking it back to Jesus’ action as a servant leader.

For Flourish the students explored Responsibility and Relationships. The sessions brought energy and connection, with engaging activities that nurtured mindfulness, strengthened bonds, and celebrated the joy of teamwork. Each experience was crafted to support the well-being of our students.

This pause from their daily routine was a celebration of the whole person. It reminded our students that true growth comes not only from academic achievement, but from cultivating inner strength, meaningful relationships, and a heart open to service.

On Friday evening, our talented student musicians took to the stage for MCC Plugged In, performing to an enthusiastic audience of family and friends.

A huge congratulations to our student bands 4Fours, Tokyo Lights, Space Jam, Dynamoes, Chaotix, and Bring It On, who showcased an incredible range of music spanning modern hits through to timeless classics. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for music were on full display, making for an unforgettable evening of live performance.

The night concluded with a special guest performance from local band The Strangers In Town, featuring MCC alumni Alex Dixon, Ayden Lukacs, and Jack Simmons. It was wonderful to welcome these former students back to share their musical talents and inspire the next generation of MCC performers.

Tips for securing an apprenticeship.
Students in Years 11 and 12 learned about apprenticeship opportunities at Alcoa with the company’s Apprenticeship Coordinator and three Alcoa apprentices, who were previous students of MCC! They talked to students who were interested in learning about the various opportunities on offer in Alcoa’s 2027 Apprenticeship Program and working at Alcoa. The students asked questions about the process, interviews and their prospects. The importance of a strong school report and attendance record was emphasised. These special presentations are important to give students the knowledge they need to choose and secure an apprenticeship. A special thanks to Alcoa for supporting our students!
