COMMUNITY – WARM BREAKFASTS, WARMER HEARTS
A chilly winter morning was met with plenty of warmth and smiles at JTC today, as students gathered for our second Community Big Breakfast at the Tindale Campus.
Thanks to the generous team from East Lake Church, students were welcomed with fruit, juice and hot bacon and egg rolls, fresh from the BBQ, friendly faces and a genuine sense of belonging. They also had the opportunity to connect with JTC Wellbeing staff and support services from across Mandurah, reinforcing the strong network of care that surrounds our young people.
By first period, students were fed, smiling and ready to engage in their regular classes – proof that sometimes the simplest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.
We are incredibly grateful to Eastlake Church and our wider community for helping create an environment where every student feels valued, supported and connected.
💙 Because when a community comes together, wellbeing thrives.

BIG GOALS. HARD WORK. REAL RESULTS.
It was a pleasure to welcome former John Tonkin College student Jeremy Cooper back to campus recently to speak with our Year 11 ATAR students.
After completing his ATAR studies at JTC, Jeremy is now in his fourth year of a Biomedical Engineering and Physiology degree at the The University of Western Australia. Alongside his studies, he is working as an undergraduate biomedical engineer with ARTRYA, contributing to the development of innovative non-invasive cardiac diagnostic technology.
During his visit, Jeremy shared his experiences of ATAR, university life, study strategies and career planning, providing students with a genuine insight into the opportunities that can follow hard work, persistence and a willingness to embrace new challenges.
One of the key messages Jeremy left with students was that success is rarely instant. It is built through setting goals, remaining committed and making the most of every opportunity along the way.
We are incredibly proud to see former students returning to share their journeys and inspire the next generation. Whether a student's pathway leads to university, vocational education and training, an apprenticeship, traineeship or the workforce, stories like Jeremy's demonstrate the many possibilities that can begin right here at John Tonkin College.
Thank you, Jeremy, for taking the time to invest in our students and share your story. We wish you every success as you continue your journey and look forward to seeing what the future holds.

A TOUCH OF THE TINDALE FLAVOUR
Last week, students and staff at our Tindale Campus came together to celebrate the many cultures that make up our college community during our International Food Festival.
From Malaysian, Cambodian and Filipino dishes to Italian, English, New Zealand, Australian, Aboriginal cuisine and much more, the event was a feast of flavours, traditions and stories from around the world.
A huge thank you to everyone who shared food and helped make the day such a success. Events like these remind us that every story, culture and tradition adds something special to our college community — and that food has a wonderful way of bringing people together.
What a fantastic day of sharing, learning and celebrating the vibrant community that makes JTC unique. 💙

CROSS COUNTRY KICKS OFF
Last week, 18 of our Year 7–9 students proudly represented JTC at the Interschool School Sport WA Cross Country at Yokine Reserve.
With up to 300 runners in each race, the atmosphere at the start line was electric — and our students rose to the challenge, competing across 3km and 4km events with determination and resilience.
After five weeks of dedicated after-school training, every runner gave it their all, pushing themselves to achieve personal bests and representing JTC with pride. 💪
Beyond the competition, it was fantastic to see our students connecting with others from across WA and embracing the experience.
A huge congratulations to all involved — your COMMITMENT, EXCELLENCE and team spirit truly made us proud! 👏
